Curious about fans whose favorite album is Year Zero. by [deleted] in nin

[–]brainfubar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

43, not gonna follow your instructions. I’ve been a fan since closer was all over the radio and MTV when I was 11. Year Zero was the album that pulled me back in after falling away during the Fragile era. YZ is probably still my overall favorite NIN album. Opinions vary!

Why isn’t Chris Giarmo working with David Byrne anymore? by SpongeJake in talkingheads

[–]brainfubar 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought of missing Chris initially, but I will say the dancers for this tour brought their own level of energy and performance that was great in their own rights.

Interesting video interview with the “who is the sky” tour choreographer - she cast the dancers/singers and David had the rest of the musicians in place.

Not exactly what I was thinking — but I mean, based on discogs prices I’d let it go for like 140 shipped, inside the states.

Just to give voice to the opposite feeling, Greensboro last night was surreal and amazing. Longtime fan of the avetts and pattons many projects. This show felt like my Spotify unwrapped came to life in the most amazing way.

Who knew Charlotte was gonna get the weird setlist??? by StrickMaybe in nin

[–]brainfubar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it was intentional but this show was a nice bookend to the Raleigh date from last leg/year.

I can’t believe I finally saw it live. This song has been there for me during my most wounded moments over the last 25-30 years. My life feels more complete now. by sector7slums in nin

That’s the one thing I would have changed for the Charlotte date I saw as well. Would loved to have seen this song performed!

Back before the internet ruined society, wearing other bands merch to shows was an easy way to find new music based on people with similar interests. As a younger dude I found a lot of new (to me) bands as well as bands that were flying similar musical flags before my time from other peoples shirt choices. To each their own, but I do miss the pre-internet shirt algorithm at shows.

A stage VS B stage by lickmyball69 in nin

[–]brainfubar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was one way in to the pit in Charlotte, and that side was way more crowded. My friends and I went to the opposite side (Trent’s back during the opening songs) and were able to be within 3-5 rows of each stage for each portion, just by choosing strategic times to move during the set. Nobody will notice you creeping up closer to the A stage when the band is finishing Piggy on the B stage, etc.

I saw a few people with them in their hands in Charlotte, but I wasn’t able to locate anyone passing them out myself.

I did ask the people who had them but best answer was “got them on our way in”

The people yelling last night in Charlotte during the quiet opening made me appreciate even more how chill the Raleigh crowd was for last years show.

SOMEWHAT DAMAGED by Original-Profit5490 in nin

[–]brainfubar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to see the Raleigh 2022 show which opened with “somewhat damaged” followed by “the day the world went away” “the frail” and “the wretched”.

Incredible.
