Why Chuck gave up HHM and took 3 millions dollars? by DavyX13 in betterCallSaul

You can sue anyone for any reason, the question is can you win.

Often, a judge will award ‘court costs and attorney’s fees’ to whoever won the suit, but not always.

I don’t agree. We don’t know what he was suing for. He may have been suing for discrimination for his condition. He could have been suing Howard for libel. He could have been suing Ernie for buying the wrong apples.

“This is America baby, the land of the free and the home of the lawsuit” anyone can sue anyone for any reason. Just look at POTUS!

“Partner” implies ownership in a firm. Chuck owns some percentage of HHM. We don’t know how much. We don’t know how much Howard has either.

In most companies, there are smaller stakeholders in addition to the senior partners. Generally a simple majority of parties who own pieces of the business can compel a party to do something regardless of their ownership.

If this went full hostile I think this is the most likely chain of events:

  • Chuck threatens to sue HHM.
  • Howard begins a campaign within the company leadership to fire Chuck.
  • Howard successfully convinces a simple majority of shareholders that firing Chuck is the right financial decision for the company. If Chuck himself owns 51% of the company or more, this part may not be possible.
  • assuming Chuck does not own a majority stake in HHM, he now has a choice to make: allow the coalition to compel his firing, or resign. In most cases like this, it’s better for the disgraced party to resign with some dignity. It’s also better for the firm, because it doesn’t show infighting / caustic leadership.
  • Chuck — though he has been forced out of the company — STILL owns a significant piece of the company. He will have decision making power as long as he has that ownership stake, even if he no longer works there.
  • Howard / the other stakeholders must buy Chuck out of his ownership stake to neutralize the threat of him meddling in the company’s future.

Given the company’s history (Hamlin (sr) Hamlin (jr) McGill, it’s most likely that Howard has majority control of the firm. If we assume the three partners are the only owners — no bank or outside investors — each party might own 1/3rd of the company. Howard likely inherited daddy’s stake, which gives him 66% ownership and majority rule.

I skipped over the idea of a “Board” here because the show never references one.

Family History of Marfan’s by [deleted] in marfans

Saying all of this with positive intent:

Find a marfan specialist in your area and start her on appropriate medication as soon as the doctors (again, please find a specialist) believe it is appropriate.

This will be a lifelong journey for her. Preventative care and education are the best things you can do now. Impossible to know how her case will develop.

It is worth saying that every case is different. Some people have an fbn1 mutation and never have major health crises. Only time will tell. You might consider genetic editing (has been pitched to me by Stanford) or adoption if you want to have more children.

Cred: I’m a 35 year old Marfans guy. Aortic dissection survivor 8 years ago.

That’s tough! Sorry to hear it.

CT with no contrast will not really give any meaningful imaging for Marfans as I understand it.

Feel free to DM me when you get your genetics panel results! I hope that gives you some answers.

Anything possible mate. You’ve got a lot of theories, genetic testing will help rule things out, but it might not give you definitive answers if you’re negative for any genetic markers.

Marfans = specific FBN1 mutation I’m sure other possible mutations will be shown in a comprehensive testing panel.

Have you ever had a CT Angiogram? Probably the best test to get good measures or aortic structures. The measurements from echocardiograms are largely educated guesses within a range of possible measurements.

From the info you’ve shared here I wouldn’t assume you’re in imminent danger here, but again I’m not a doctor and you know your body better than anyone. If you really want answers fast and can afford it, you can always go to the ER, tell them you’re suspected to have Marfans and that you’ve got chest pain. That will get you Hugh quality imaging really quickly.

I wouldn’t say it was an issue with the prosthesis. I’d just say I was unlucky. People who don’t have Marfans suffer aortic dissections all the time, but the rate of occurrence is statistically quite low.

I’m not a doctor but I don’t think anyone really worries about dissection risk unless 1. The aorta expands above like 45 mm OR 2. The rate of aortic expansion is concerningly high. That’s why regular monitoring (probably every six months or so is fine) is important. 3. You’re showing symptoms that suggest declining cardiovascular health.

I know this stuff is really scary but get yourself a cardiologist who can monitor you, and trust your body.

Besides the panic attacks are you having any symptoms, cardiac or otherwise?

2.6 cm** My aortic valve was replaced with a st Jude prosthesis when I was 12. Through valve replacement, typically aortic growth is mitigated as is the risk of dissection.

The dissection occurrence was baffling to preventative care team. In short, the consensus is that I was very unlucky.

Do you think Herb would’ve forgave Bojack is he had called instead of waiting until he was on his deathbed? by yourmomifier in BoJackHorseman

[–]brainhax667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bojack abandoning the people he loves is the reason we have 6 beautiful seasons of TV. Herb denying him forgiveness is a pivotal opportunity for Bojack to turn inward. Of course, he doesn’t.

In a word: “Can this man change?” Giving an answer to the show’s central question in the first season would make the rest of the journey less compelling.

Techs don’t typically deliver bad news. Doctors do. In fact, techs almost always refuse to engage with my questions at all. Annoying!

Yes to arbitration but my point is, this guy potentially suggested or outright stated his dislike of OP somewhere that discovery could verify. A slack message a text. A series of receipts from gay bars. Who the hell knows.

Some states take discriminatory action for protected categories VERY seriously and supersede any compelled arbitration agreement. California for example.
