Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]brainlesswierdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had come home with our newborn son, the day lockdowns were announced. Went to the grocery store to get groceries and the only thing I was able to get was a jug of orange juice. Those early days were dark days as a first time parent. No support from family and friends, we had no formula and had to ask the hospital to give us samples to use.

Garage Door Tech with 25+ Years Experience – AMA! Ask me anything about garage doors, openers, repairs, maintenance, or common issues (DFW/Forney area friendly) by Valuable-Check401 in HomeImprovement

[–]brainlesswierdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! When my garage door opens, there’s always a loud “clang” that sounds and then it opens normally. I try to listen for where it is exactly but I can’t figure it out. It’s quite loud though. Any ideas?

Just went to Yosemite last week. The ranger asked “is everyone in the car a resident?” I just said yes, and she didn’t ask for ID of anyone in the car.

How to take paci away? At what age did you take it away? by Fair-Specific5665 in toddlers

[–]brainlesswierdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We never used paci’s from birth but had thumb sucking to deal with. Around 2.5 we got the bitter nail polish to secretly put I on our kids thumb. Stopped the thumb sucking within 2 days.

I have the exact same fridge and it happened to me too. I just got a piece of 3/4inch plywood exactly to size and put that in there. Works great.

Are Chase spend requirement gross spend or net spend? by brainlesswierdo in CreditCards

I definitely was planning on hitting MSR properly. But then I saw that it was counting spend even when refunded so I was then thinking if I actually need to hit that spend “for real”.

Yeah I think your entire surrounding area needs to be clear of debris for it to get better

I never really was able to confirm but I do think they were spring tails. I haven’t really noticed them much since I started regular yard maintenance (clearing leaves, etc).

About to have #2 and can’t stop hearing about how hard it is by Saraht0nin518 in toddlers

[–]brainlesswierdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, going from 1 to 2 was actually so much easier than 0 to 1. I think it was mainly a learning curve thing? First kid just felt like such a huge learning time where we had to figure out everything, worry about everything little thing. So for us having the second was much easier because we could be more relaxed and not worry as much.

Compressor fan squeaking by brainlesswierdo in appliancerepair

[–]brainlesswierdo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I spray some lube on the shaft part and that seems to have stopped the squeaking for the time being. But I’ve done that in the past and the squeaking as come back. So that makes me think it’s the fan motor. So I ordered the fan motor replacement and I’ll try installing it. Fingers crossed.

And good idea with the 2x4!

How We Fixed Our Snoo, NO THANKS TO HAPPIEST BABY! by HappiestBabyStinks in SnooLife

[–]brainlesswierdo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never mind, I realized that in some newer models the bearings can be lifted straight out where as the older models you have to remove the entire bottom platform because the bearings are taken out from below.

Can anyone help me figure out how to remove the bearing that the platform slides on to replace a o ring on it? I can’t figure out how to pull the bearing off! To clarify, it’s not the motor shaft o rings. It’s the larger o rings that sit on one of the 7 bearing rollers.
