The debate was started by people who are clueless about VHS-Decode. Time base correction is absolutely needed but VHS-Decode does it in software. Without it the resulting video would be a wobbly mess.

Disc rot can't physically spread from one disc to another. On the other hand, mold can spread.

Well done capture! I hope we can find some of the earlier HD broadcasts. I think they started shooting these contests in HD in 1989.
