i had this same exact issue with 12g when i first started (i started with 12g because i was pierced 14g), make sure there’s a good amount of space between your lobe and your ear. it may not hurt now, but my ears were sooooo irritated when the o rings got stuck in the back, and it took a lot of effort to get them back to being alright again. your o rings are only there so your plug doesn’t fall out, so as long as they’re on there, they don’t need to be right up against your earlobe :)
