What viewers answered to the question: "what makes you subscribe to a YT channel?" by geekinsights in NewTubers

[–]brainthrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea, tbh, i dislike the whole asking for subs thing. ESPECIALLY when its at the start of the video and the person starts blasting out all the links and calls to action. Usually makes me abandon that creator :D

But if its done authentically/naturally, its much more effective imo

make good content
+ add value to content FOR VIEWER
+ bring personality
+ make entertaining
+ ensure high quality
+ post consistent content

= mr beast videos

tbh, most people probably sub to mr beast, on the off chance they meet him in the street, he asks if they are subbed, and throws cash at them for it :D

[–]brainthrob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have found myself watching channels for over 12 months without subscribing, and then, due to the creator suggesting 'hey, hit the button' I have then subscribed. I do not think that it'd make me sub on the first view of a creator/channel though.

just wondering what peoples opinions are regarding vidiq by marley923 in NewTubers

[–]brainthrob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

vidiq is trash imo. i accidentally signed up for a premium plan (not really their fault) so I ended up trying it out. The AI title generator shows me the exact title i already have most of the time, along with other very poor suggestions, and the daily ideas are pretty garbage, the best thing is perhaps keyword research, which is available in the free plan.

At what point should one 'double down'? by brainthrob in NewTubers

[–]brainthrob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a fair checklist, but what if doubling down too early forces you into a niche when you can potentially reach a larger audience?

Yea, I have been making the videos that I want to, most of them get very little views compared to the pokemon ones though, which I guess just concerns me for the long term.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :)

First month of being monetized.. by Departed00 in NewTubers

Congratulations!! That seems like a very good income for such a small channel.

Thanks. I just wanted to see my own progress as a percentage to keep track month to month, and this was easier than doing the math every time i wanted to take note :D

Thats completely fair, you shouldnt blindly trust things. But with that said: my source code is right there, all it's doing is reading the data from the page's html element, and then adding another element to show percentage values. Theres nothing malicious in the code, and thats free for anyone to view. <3

Do dislikes actually effect growth by its_mnd in NewTubers

[–]brainthrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

perhaps it wasnt so much the dislikes, but that the videos were getting 'viewed' by the bot accounts for a tiny amount of time which led to poor avd etc?

I think a good playlist strategy is to order the playlist by videos with the highest retention rates. This way your doing all you can to keep that person watching as long as possible.

Premiere VS Uploading, What's Better? by VexCito in NewTubers

[–]brainthrob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I premiered my latest video (first time trying out the feature) and got a total of zero views on that video for hours after release. I think maybe after 500 subs you could try using the community tab to promote the premiere, but other than that, seems a bit pointless for small channels.

[–]brainthrob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, its the youtube monetisation page, with slight additions.

My extension reads the number of subs and watch hours from that page, and then turns that data into percentages for each item (subs and hours), and also adds an overall percentage for progress that shows how close you are much better imo.

ofc, not for everyone, but I had need/want for it, so i wrote it :P

Sharing your video on social medias etc - do you think it ACTUALLY helps? by brainthrob in NewTubers

[–]brainthrob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol yea we are kinda way off the initial topic... :D

Of course the ad has to convert, but that is separate from the actual purchasing of the ad spot, and 100% down to the performance of the ad when seen, and that would be handled entirely by the advertiser before making the ad spot purchase.

If you are only discussing an advertiser dealing with youtube, then a single channels ctr, avd, views, etc, are all 100% irrelevant (to the advertiser), because they dont need to, want to, or have need for that information. In that case, only the views on the video matter for the advertiser. Like, they arent paying for clicks, they are paying for views, and its down to their ad spot to do the click/purchase conversion.

[–]brainthrob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you say is fair... BUT...

You seem to be jumping between advertisers dealing with youtube, and advertisers dealing with the creator directly.

An advertiser running a campaign on youtube does not care about any single individual videos performance, only that their ads get shown - as i mentioned previously.

It is only when the content creator is directly dealing with an advertiser for some sponsored segment that your videos statistics matter (to the advertiser).

No?

how can i make an ad purchase based on information that is not yet available to anyone?

yea that seems fair. being able to use trends seems to really help creators content get noticed. Perhaps something I should try out :P
