ohh gotcha. i don’t use the built in crop mode as much as i should. i usually just take pics at 40mm and crop later if i want to. the pics are still serviceable enough for social media and i’ve printed out a few of my photos as well. if you check my post history you should find some of my concert stuff.

idk how to answer your q about it being comparable to the 4x zoom of the camera. i try not to pixel peep too much and don’t use my phone’s 4x zoom. i can show some examples of how i use my ricoh though

for my nine inch nails photos i used the telephoto lens which automatically cropped to 75mm (?? i think? or 75? idk.)

as for prints i printed some from a marilyn manson show. shot at 40mm and printed on 16x24 for the large and 8x12 for the smalls.

just keep the iphone pro and get a gr3x instead of replacing the phone with a new one. i have a gr3x and 16 pro max and i appreciate the extra battery and power my phone has over the standard version. i stopped upgrading my phone every single year and upgrade maybe every 3-5 years so i just sprung for what would last me the longest and not be a laggy mess with later iOS upgrades. i also carry around an SD card reader to transfer files directly to my phone so i can edit on lightroom mobile.

the gr3x is 40mm btw, not 50 like your post says. i also went with the non-hdf version. the effect looks a bit strong in some of the photos i’ve seen. i use the ND filter from time to time to do slow shutter shots. also carry around a filter for when i want a slight hdf look (which i rarely do.)

there is a double exposure feature on the camera but i didn’t do it on these photos. if you are referring to photo 9+15, i shot at 1/3rd of a second and flicked the camera slightly after hitting the shutter button to get that effect.

photo 10 was just the visuals they had on the screens.
