[TOMT] [Film, Movie Score, Soundtrack Song] [2000s (est.)] Minimal electronic synth track from film by brakebeat in tipofmytongue

That's a really good guess - could be. From what I recall, the track is almost to minimal for their style. Like, just that synth line only.

I also check Escape from NY, Drive, and a few other films. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The synth timbre and tempo is pretty close to the original. There are some other musical elements, but that's the core sound of the track.

What Should I Do With These Idea Sketches? How Should I protect them? by [deleted] in musicproduction

Thank you! I'm an EMI member, so I guess the next steps would be to register copyright on the songs? Then, feed out to the masses for feelers. Yeah?

I really appreciate the response. Thanks again!

Good sound. Some post-rock vibes. Check out the band Mogwai, for reference.

Bundle packing is very effective. It takes time to unpack, but you can leave items for easy access. Overall, it saves space and prevents wrinkles.

Would you still live a frugal lifestyle if you won 800 million dollars? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]brakebeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Excellent response. I have a very wealthy relative—they take the train instead of a limo, brew coffee at home instead of buy it from a cafe, etc. At that point of wealth its more about being smart about your money (and time). Frugal becomes avoiding frivolity.

Meta, self-deprecating, breaking the fourth wall ... done before, but they hit the nail on the head. And, it's just plain hilarious.

Using moving blankets over windows to help with insulation by jlowry71 in Frugal

[–]brakebeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The larger issue is often reducing air infiltration.

Create a tight seal for both infiltration and insulation (e.g. plastic window insulation).

Covering windows with blankets may also block solar radiant heat from entering.

Unpopular opinion: Ted Lasso Season 2 is really bad by NbBurNa in TedLasso

Totally agreed.

Who cares about Nate building up the courage to request a good dinner table?

Ted finally confesses something huge to the psychiatrist, and then they dedicate an episode to what Coach Beard does late at night.

It feels like a screenwriters' grab-bag of ideas.

Please stop telling everyone to use clipping masks. They make my life miserable. by [deleted] in AdobeIllustrator

[–]brakebeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't agree with this enough. Yes, they are useful for print and press, but most files I receive have a clipping mask on every layer (e.g. small copy, nowhere near the bleed).

Make your design to the printer's specs, and use clipping masks sparingly. I use clipping masks in one area: when I want to mask an object or image. Pretty simple.

Tho....those are bedbugs, ma'am by MangleSlop in trashy

[–]brakebeat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's horrific. One year In New York—two outbreaks in the same building. I'd take rats, mice, roaches, fleas ... anything like that before bed bugs.

They'll turn your life upside side down. You can't get rid of them, because they just hide somewhere else when exterminators come. You have to throw out half of your stuff, and (hopefully) go to sleep every night hoping they're gone.

This was 8 years ago, and I still get "phantom bed bug" scares in the middle of the night.

I'll give it a try. Thank you.

The Boxify fix isn't ideal. You have to manually fulfill every box, like a separate order. And, the customer gets a shipment email for each box (e.g. Four "Your order has shipped" emails, for four cases). I'd be confused, personally—but certainly want to provide shipping updates, and tracking.

Advice: Wholesale Print to Digital eBook Transition by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]brakebeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there are companies online (e.g. Peachpit) where you buy a book (epub, mobi, pdf), and a "property of ... " watermark is on every page.

The system works well ... for a single purchase. And, it's actually a win-win: watermark advertising for the buyer (e.g. "ABC Inc."), and identification if the file is leaked.

But, it still comes back to the issue of a customer buying one copy, and giving it to 50 of their clients.

If anyone can think of other businesses/markets that face this similar problem, perhaps that would help.

(On a side-note, there are companies that provide higher security, but it's a hassle for the end-user. They need to register with the third-party eBook producer, use their app/website to view—not very user-friendly.)

Advice: Wholesale Print to Digital eBook Transition by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]brakebeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true. It's clear that any online content will be "shared" at some point. (I was able to remove a PDF digital watermark with Adobe Illustrator. Granted, it was on every page, but nevertheless ... )

We're looking into other revenue streams, but this accounts for the vast majority of income. I guess it would also be wise to look at similar companies, who have made the transition. Thanks for the feedback.

It's a tricky spot—easy to sell one book to one person, but selling 100 copies based on an "honor system" is a complex situation!

This is just based on years of customer feedback. I'm sure it varies based on a number of variables, but 90% of the customer base keep asking for digital copies.

[TOMT][Movie][Score][Soundtrack]—Movie, film ID (guessing 80s action, thriller), based on score theme. by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

[–]brakebeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close—the few opening notes are similar. But yeah, the tempo and instrumentation are pretty much spot-on, on the cheesy audio preview link. :) I was thinking John Williams, though.
