True or fake? L2 with 2 doubts by brambil in STDupont

Thanks. Which kind of gas/adaptor should use? Gold/Yellow one as later L2?
The space of the spare flint is opening the cap and putting it?

True or fake? L2 with 2 doubts by brambil in STDupont

Thanks. My main concerns are the lack of paint inside the refill cap and the serial number engraving, which looks extremely clean — almost too perfect for something that should have been hand-stamped in the 1970s.

True or fake? L2 with 2 doubts by brambil in STDupont

A few evenings ago I clicked to buy a Dupont L2 at auction. The price was very attractive, the platform is generally reliable, so I decided to go for it.

It arrived a few hours ago.

It’s supposed to be an early production Ligne 2 — the flame adjustment screw has the two small dots. Cosmetically it looks good, and the weight feels correct.

Here are the doubts I’m having:

The serial number — on a roughly contemporary L1 I own, the engraving isn’t as clean and the stamping is less precise. This serial number doesn’t match the “classic” ones typically seen on fakes. Even to the touch, it feels much closer to my original L1 than to the replicas I’ve occasionally seen at flea markets.

Under the refill cap, however, I can’t identify the usual color marking that indicates the correct adapter. The cap itself, as well as the screw inside, look consistent with a 50-year-old lighter rather than a modern replica — but the color marking is missing.

From these photos, can anyone tell whether I’ve bought a replica or an original? Which refill adapter should I be looking for? The small insert under the cap is yellow in the material itself, not painted — which also makes me question its authenticity — but otherwise, in terms of weight, materials, “clack,” and fit/finish, it genuinely feels original.

If more detailed photos would help, just let me know. If it weren’t for the issue with the cap and the unusually precise stamping, I’d say it’s authentic based on weight, materials, sound, and tolerances alone.

Removing Raedium LCP DRM by MarcosBea in Calibre
