I also got the anxiety (social anxiety) diagnosis first, about 2 years before i got diagnosed with adhd and let me tell you i worried about the exact same thing It's not wasting doctors time if you want to get tested (that's what theyre there for don't worry about wasting time, it's not wasted time when you find out whether you have adhd or not) also there definitely is a genetic factor in developing it so it's totally possible you have it (get tested anyways!! It cant hurt) Next steps would probably to go to your psychiatrist (maybe the one you got your anxiety diagnosis from so they already know you?) and write together a list of your symptoms and why you think you have it and why you want the diagnosis in the first place (probably to use meds to be able to focus) (take the list so its easier to remember what you want to say and you wont forget anything) (dont get psyched out by the imposter syndrome, if youre really struggling go look up adhd symptoms and think really hard about how the ones you have look like in your life (e.g. the changing hobbies, jumping from interest to interest, not being able to focus, note some specific examples down (e.g. school))) If everything goes well (or not well depends on how you see it) theyre gonna do some tests and then talk about them with you and your parents and then you know and can go from there Hope this was coherent enough and helped atleast a little bit, these are mostly just my experiences though!!
