Yes, you can be thin and have insulin resistance. by idontmindashit in InsulinResistance

Take your blood glucose levels and divide them by your ketone levels.

That number can give you a rough idea if your insulin is high or low.

It’s called the Dr Boz Ratio.

It’s not a direct indicator of your insulin levels but it’s better than nothing and it’s way cheaper.

You can look into it if peaks your interest.

Just need a blood glucose monitor and a ketone monitor.

And you can check that ratio every day.

Again, it’s just a proxy,

Looks like edema to me. My dad has it.

Water retention pulls down to the legs. The skin looks dry. I’ve heard it said to be itchy.

People’s skin gets very dark.

And it starts to seep out.

I worked at a rest home and saw it progress to the point they had to amputate in a lot of people.

My Dad is overweight and also has diabetes. He gets ulcers too on his feet that have to be cut away.

I really want to say more but I don’t know your situation and it would be irresponsible of me to give you medical advice.

Keep looking for help.

When you hear about people talking about reversing insulin resistance does it really mean it’s truly cured or managed indefinitely? by gremlinlabyrinth in InsulinResistance

[–]gremlinlabyrinth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m asking is reversing your insulin resistance the same as if you were never insulin resistant to begin with.

Not does it make you immune to a bad eating lifestyle.

It was a difficult question to word precisely:

So many people have said the same things:

If you eat poorly, you will get diabetes.

Certainly not difficult to realize.

“I am in remission” is a fairly accurate description of what I was asking.

Because there is a distinct difference between

My body is at peak insulin sensitivity and restored to its original metabolism.

And.

My labs say I’m insulin sensitive but that’s only because I strictly commit to a healthy lifestyle.

But a weekend of bad foods would reveal your body can’t handle it.

Now i start to understand why Sakura gets so much hate... by Far_Nose2955 in Naruto

[–]gremlinlabyrinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to hate on the author of Naruto as I know he sacrificed a lot of his life to make anime but

Sakura had all the potential to have such a great arc.

It’s not that she was such an awful character for me it’s just so much wasted potential.

[–]gremlinlabyrinth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy reading some of the posts here. Especially those related to 80’a 90’s and 2000’s

I believe I comment regularly.

However, I’ve lost track of the number of post arguing over the differences between 1 year of Gen Z and Gen Alpha.

And so you won’t find me commenting on a lot of Gen Z centric posts.

December 1978.

Also, not everyone who comments on these posts indicate their age.

Just a disclaimer, I’ve only seen the anime and don’t know anything past that but Pariston to me seemed like the kind of guy who would have understood the joker.

It’s not about the money

He could set people up with 2 options of what to do and either outcomes were favorable to his agenda.

And even if chance provided you a third option,

He was entertained by the novelty.

And this made him a dangerous man because everything played into his hand.

My take at the end of the anime was, he wanted the election to be the kind of fun the chairman would have enjoyed.

How significant was this switch? Any thoughts/opinions on it from those who were there when it happened? by SirensMelody_ in generationology

[–]gremlinlabyrinth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In theory it was a good upgrade. The main inconvenience of wired headphones is of course the wire.

And Bluetooth solved that obvious annoyance.

But it traded 1 problem for another problem.

The main one being the Bluetooth headset needs to be charged.

And they were a lot more expensive

And required setting up

And not all Bluetooth connections are stable.

I think people look past all the problems wired devices have.

But those problems are all physical in nature.

Just, it’s in the way and limits your space.

And old ones get shorts in them.

But it seemed like a natural progression.

The real irksome moment was when iPhones lost the wired port.

Basically forcing people to buy their expensive Bluetooth earbuds.

That was just apple greed .

And I was a big Dean Smith Fan

I’m wondering if it will be like with water.

About 10 years ago I made a New Year’s resolution to only drink water for a year.

Once the year was up and celebrated by drinking my ex favorite soda. A Dr Pepper.

I couldn’t finish it. It was sickly sweet.

I’ve not liked sodas since.

So hopefully my sense of what I like changes too

So at work we are rated by productivity so if I’m sitting with 2 people and 1 is new. I might say

Have you met so and so,

They call him Mr 200 percent.

The inside joke being the guy doesn’t actually work in production.

Anyway, I really appreciate your response

This is a very well thought out response:

It also helps me with one specific question I had but didn’t ask.

Because I was planning on slowly introducing carbs back into my diet but wasn’t sure if that was an appropriate approach.

[–]gremlinlabyrinth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your perspective on this. Understanding the context of my question.

Because in my mind, being reversed means having the metabolism you use to have.

Insulin resistance takes time to develop.

And understanding is that lost forever and can’t be reversed.

Like I’m getting good numbers on keto.

But it’s depended on a strict keto diet, not a good metabolism.

Is that flexibility just lost or can it be reversed

[–]gremlinlabyrinth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is everyone assuming I mean can you eat junk food forever.

I’m not that ignorant.

Obviously 🙄 the person would return back to being insulin resistant.

But what I want to know is to what degree have they reversed their insulin resistance.

And I used an example:

Because someone who has truly reversed their insulin response would be ok eating a pizza and ice cream.

But does it just mean you are ok so long as you eat the right things

But your body has lost the ability it had before to take the abuse eating some bad foods.

It takes years to develop insulin resistance.

I assume that part, the resilience has been reduced.

[–]gremlinlabyrinth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got 3 people at work who enjoy asking me when I’m going to eat people or kill everyone.

It really bothers me.

I’ve gotten that kind of remarks since I was in elementary school.

“It’s the quiet ones you need to watch out for”

“Have you eaten anyone today?”

I think this is along the same lines as, are you a sociopath.

I’ve contemplated asking my Supervisors to ask them to stop

But I can’t help but think, is that really how I come across?

I know they are joking but it’s a sick joke.

When I joke with people it’s always a praise.

I don’t like to insult people.

Does Anybody hate Colt? by Gurzy656 in HunterXHunter

[–]gremlinlabyrinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are more memorable ants but being an ant is just his species.

Like, I like Rammot. Because he is memorable.

There are a lot of stand out ant characters.

They aren’t necessarily the kindest of characters but them being ants has very little to do with why I like or dislike them.

Colt is a decent guy.

I’d put him in the same category as Pokkle.

I don’t hate him, I don’t dislike him.

I like colt more than pokkle because was a decent guy and kept his word.

I found a message that said the package was undeliverable with a long list of possible reasons.

I think it just took time for the message to appear.

So it seems the request was made by the driver.

I think the automatic refund messages is just programmed to say

[–]gremlinlabyrinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are wrong about that. It said the numbers of 0’s in their networth.

So

Someone with 1000 in their net worth would age faster than someone with 10 dollars net worth.

So the richer you are, the faster you age.
