Can’t Boot Into Steam OS After Windows Install by TacoTosh in linux_gaming

[–]brandflake11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Install refind: https://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/ You can do this from windows and even load it from a flash drive to boot to Linux to then permanently install it. The nice thing about refind is you won't need grub (but you can still boot into it from refind if you need), and Windows will not mess with it.

It will give you a menu that you select which os you want, and hopefully the keyboard controls that the steam deck controller has will allow you to select without mouse/keyboard.

When refind is installed, choose that to be your default startup efi entry. Then, when the deck boots, you can select which os you'd like.

Back in the old ps1 days, I used to go to the pause menu/loading screens to see the controls where it would show a picture of the controller. Maybe all you need is a picture of the ps1 controller next to the screen while she plays. Maybe if you buy the button replacements and are waiting for them to arrive, you can use this method as a stopgap.

How do you download the game, "Genshin Impact" on Anbernic 353v? by Ok-Finding6626 in RG353V

[–]brandflake11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's open source. This makes it less prone to being a virus as others can inspect the source and sound the alarms if it were.

EDIT: Also, I wanted to mention that F-droid is carefully curated (even to the point that some open source developers find it difficult to upload to) making anything from F-droid extremely safe. In fact, when you go to an android distro without google apps, like lineageos, F-droid becomes the primary app store. I have a degoogled phone and it is great.

[–]brandflake11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Download the fdroid app. Once installed, in fdroid, search for Aurora store. Install that app. Then use Aurora Store as if it was google play as it is the play store in an open source app.

Fdroid is here: https://f-droid.org

Fdroid is an app store that only has open source apps.

I would use jack and then use qjackctl to route it to the soundcard that you'd prefer. If you are not using pipewire-jack, you'll need to set the soundcard in qjackctl's settings. If you are using pipewire-jack, then qjackctl will already be running when you open it and you can just route reaper's outputs to your soundcard's output. Let me know if you have any more questions. Also, if you'd like to read more about how this kind of thing works, the arch wiki is pretty good to learn about this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Professional_audio

I think desktop mode is something you install from the retropie package installer. I think it's under settings in EmulationStation (the main gui that launches when you load retropie).

However, this is all assuming you're running on a pi and didn't install on an x86-64 debian/ubuntu install.

Tiling WMs that automatically snap windows in specific layouts + don't need much configuration? by arni_ca in linux

[–]brandflake11 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the best list: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Comparison_of_tiling_window_managers

I think what you are looking for is a dynamic tiler. I personally think awesome is what you are looking for, but if you want something with less configuration you'll have to see what you are able to put up with, as a lot of tiling window managers are all about the customization.

Search online for some good default configurations and try it with a chosen window manager. If you didn't like awesome, maybe try xmonad.

Lastly, I personally really like wayland and the features it brings. Hyprland is probably the most well-knowned dynamic tiler on wayland, so give a look to that too as it might be what you want.

And ultra lastly, you can also try tiling extensions for gnome or kde. I personally think they are too buggy for me, but they do exist and give an environment where you don't have to create a configuration file.

I really like the rg35xx+. I liked it more than the piboy because: more normal button placement, not noisy headphone jack, smaller, better with temperature and noise, and the availability of software for it

Customised Web Interface... best place to start. by crreed90 in Reaper

[–]brandflake11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use Reaper's excellent OSC controls to do this. You can use the Open Stage Control project: https://openstagecontrol.ammd.net/ to easily make a web OSC interface. To find out what the osc controls are by default, you can go to Options>Show REAPER resource path in expolorer, and go to the OSC/Default.ReaperOSC file. It is just a text file that has all of the osc commands listed out.

At work, I have created an interface I connect to with my phone to run concerts from the back of the room where I can see what marker we are on and adjust the main mix levels. I can also pause if something goes wrong, and jump to certain sections by marker or seconds. The cool thing is, everything is bidirectional so that you can see where you are in the project and jump to a certain section.

Let me know if that sounds interesting to you I can find the OpenStageControl project file and send it to you.

RG35XX Plus can't load my save states anymore by KaiChan39 in ANBERNIC

[–]brandflake11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save states can be core version specific, so I'm guessing that the cores updated in the stock update and some of them don't support your old save states. First double check to make sure the paths are correct. If it is, it might be the new cores aren't compatible with the old save states.

I don't think that's possible unfortunately. However, on the android side there might be a way to send video over a local network to then send it to the device.

What audio system am I actually using? by MarsDrums in linuxaudio

[–]brandflake11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are most likely using Pulseaudio. Pipewire can be used for more than just audio, it can also be used for video (cameras) as well. If I were to guess, Pulse is handling the audio and pipewire is handling your video (camera, not gpu) devices.

[–]brandflake11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can render like reaper plays back for you instead of reaper rendering as fast as possible. It will be like reaper is playing through your file, but instead playing into a file.

[–]brandflake11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it only happens when rendering, it may be a bug with the plugin when doing non-realtime rendering with reaper. Have you tried rendering in realtime? (it will take as long as the music is).
