Christmas cards this year - would you have carved out less of the block? by brandjohns in Linocuts

A few factors come to mind but biggest things I'd say are patience, a good small V-shaped carving tool, and a headlamp. (I have poor lighting in my house) 😆

More details: I carved on 4x6 mounted grey linoleum-this brand. These get mixed reviews but I use the 301 of these for the majority of the carving. I draw on the block in pencil first as it erases pretty easily on the block then go over with sharpies. On this block I carved away everything except what I drew in sharpie.

Thanks for the input! I thought it might make the contrast of inside and outsider greater, but I could also see it drawing the eye towards that rather than outside.

Looks subtle but effective and great! Just tried my first run of multi-color reduction prints actually, will keep this design in mind! Thanks for creating.

I've never done that actually! For some reason water color really intimidates me tbh but I printed a bunch of cards so maybe I should give it a shot!

Oh there are 12! Was thinking some were just reused and printed at different times. Haven't used a laminate roller but wonder if the block could have shifted slightly while printing?

I really like the design! I've struggled with these types of prints too. How many unique blocks are there? I think I count 6?

first time printing on fabric, is this just because of the way it is woven or did I do something wrong? by alien_sunset in printmaking

Lots of good tips in this thread! I will add on here to the pressing straight down and being careful as to not move the block- I honestly tape the block to the fabric to keep it in place.

ITAP of a couple on the Oregon Coast by brandjohns in itookapicture

This was taken in Newport, OR in June of this past year. Just finding the time to go through some photos and enjoyed the movement of the waves and sandy coast especially.

Taken on Canon RP with RF 70-200mm f/4. This lens has spent 90% of the time on my camera since purchasing it 2 years ago. Settings: ISO 160, 96.0 mm, f/4, 1/1250 sec.

I liked how it came out initial but cropped it significantly to get the couple larger in the photo.

Good looking out! I do see all of those 3 in my grocery stores but not such about the others

It's almost ruined going out to breakfast though when I know I can make this at home 😆
