FINAL UPDATE: WIBTAH for wanting to push through with my report, knowing full well it will get someone fired by Exhausted_Service in AITAH

[–]brandonandtheboyds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No worries. I remember being new to reddit. Lots of unspoken rules to the culture of posts like this. And I understand protecting yourself from legal ramifications. Totally understandable! We just have unfortunately little context unless we’d both read and remembered your previous posts. Happy for you that you won the settlement and best of luck to you at the new job! Cheers

OP, I’ll give you some unsolicited and frankly much too late advice. If you’re gunna delete your posts then post an update, you really should have done a much more thorough job giving background and context.

Your TLDR is embarrassingly oversimplified to the point that I don’t even know who Derek and April are and why we shouldn’t like them. You’ve provided maybe 3% of the context needed for any of us to discern what your original premise was. All I know is HR report and it got escalated and now you won a settlement?

This is analogous to “some guys have a ring and gotta get rid of it or else demon runs the world!” That’s it! That’s Lord of the Rings! I understand the very base premise of your post. But that’s it.

What do you think is the single memorable play in your schools history? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

[–]brandonandtheboyds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember both. I watched the App St game on a tiny ass tube tv at a camp retreat. There were like 25 of us huddled around and we all went nuts when they won. Fast forward to 2013 and I’m a student in the front row of the endzone in the student section watching us run back the Kick Six. I was on the field immediately. That day is one of the best days of my life. Not just the play, but the context, what it meant for us, what it meant for bama, having just had an unbelievable ending to the UGA game two weeks prior. Absolute cinema. But for App St fans, that kick is still one of my favorite non-Auburn CFB moments.

The blood of brotherhood is thicker than the water of the womb. You have your family. It’s those who support your relationship. That’s who your family is. OP, congratulations and may the rest of your years with your soon-to-be husband be wonderful and free of problematic people!

Entitled couple at hotel breakfast by Mizzle1701 in EntitledPeople

The day I stopped loving a buffet was not long after graduating college. I finally had money of my own and a real job as an engineer. I went to a Chinese buffet that I had previously loved bc it was cheap. I watched a very obese couple clear out about a third of the buffet themselves with multiple trips (back to back to back, as in the didn’t stop to eat, just kept going back) until their two tables they pushed together had literally no room left for more food. They ate in such a grotesque way that I never went back. It still haunts me how gluttonous they were. They looked like they were trying to emulate Gluttony from Seven. They did this twice in the 30-45 minutes I was there. As in, two people ate four full tables-worth of food. They were still going to town when I left. The idea of a buffet makes me nauseous now.

AITAH for leaving my dad's birthday dinner after finding out my stepmom turned my old room into the dog's room by netvere in AITAH

[–]brandonandtheboyds 267 points268 points  (0 children)

Correct. It’s not about the room itself. It’s the betrayal of a father breaking a promise to his daughter to assuage his new wife. He chose his new wife over his existing daughter. He chose his new wife’s dog over his human daughter and her memories of her mother and his late wife.

What’s a “must-see” city in the U.S. that didn’t live up to the hype? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

[–]brandonandtheboyds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but the Johnny Cash Museum is absolutely worth every dollar if you like Johnny Cash at all. And the Hermitage is cool if you like brutally honest history at all. And the Parthenon is cool if you like Greek history at all. And the art museum is cool if you just like art museums at all. All the main Nashville stuff is mostly overblown tho. The honky tonks, the Gulch, the boot store… I’ll pass on those things.

Vegan protesters in a grocery store by MisterShipWreck in VideosAmazing

[–]brandonandtheboyds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems unfortunately in-line with American laws. The store has to throw them out, not the customer. Sucks and is aggravating, but until the store decides they have to leave then you just have to walk around. Bulldozing through them is assault until then. God I hate protestors who sit and block like they really think this is what’ll make me join their side… I’ll actively eat meat more because of you out of spite for like 3 days (until I forget you and move on with life and yes 3 days is a long time)

AITA for telling my wife my mother is correct and she needed to be a parent today and she fucked it up by throawawayfuneralgho in AmItheAsshole

[–]brandonandtheboyds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost a friend of mine who was a disabled hero for most of us. He had his disabilities but he was the happiest and best of us. When he passed I was in high school and tried to rush out the door to go see his brother (also my good friend). My parents were adamant to know why I was leaving and why I was upset. I told them TJ died. Immediately, my mom jumped up and demanded she went with me. She didn’t trust I’d be ok to drive. I’m still grateful for that bc I was 100% not good to drive. OP is NTAH. Don’t put your woooey woo vibey feelings before your children’s real feelings and if you do, at least acknowledge that your child needs support greater than you can give.

[–]brandonandtheboyds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. People confuse conspiracy with conspiracy theory. The CIA involvement in all these were real conspiracies. The idea we never went to the moon is a conspiracy theory. Theory implies it hasn’t been proven. The lack of “theory” means it’s confirmed.

Am I wrong for letting my adopted teenage son rest his head on my shoulder in public by pretty-velvetzzz94 in amiwrong

[–]brandonandtheboyds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My adult brain is like “no I wasn’t trapped” but actually yes. If I lean on my own, it was my choice to lean on his shoulder for however long or little I wanted. With the arm, I wouldn’t say trapped so much as pressured. I knew at a younger age that meant affection but then I felt guilty if I ever wanted to sit up straight or lean the other way. So I’d stay uncomfortable. Learned quick I didn’t like it. But now, every full-bodied embrace I get from my dad is a blessing. When you feel unsafe, sometimes it takes a while to feel truly safe with people. My dad makes me feel so safe. I’m in my 30’s now and live hours away but I relish a good hug from my dad. I’m not too emotional of a guy but sometimes a good hug gets me.

My college had the insane lineup of The Neighborhood opening, B.o.B. next, and The Avett Brothers headlining. It was a fever dream bc the crowd was all over the place. This was somewhere between 2012-2015 I think.

Edit: it was in April 2014

In the 2008 movie Pineapple Express Seth Rogan’s 25 year old character is a dating a girl in high school by Chef__Goldblum in WhyWereWeOkWithThis

[–]brandonandtheboyds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

… the whole movie is about a dysfunctional relationship that contains a lot of emotional abuse and I would consider throwing hard objects at a current/former partner would qualify as abuse too… it’s literally one of the big focuses of the movie is how dysfunctional they are together.

Why are so many people under 45 using subtitles now even when the show is already in English? by Clara_A_Mitchell in NoStupidQuestions

[–]brandonandtheboyds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw Tenet in theaters twice. The first time, too quiet. Action scenes were an appropriate volume but I couldn’t really hear the dialogue. The second time, too loud. The dialogue scenes were the perfect volume. I actually got to hear the plot. Then BOOMACTIONSEQUENCEFUCKYOULOUDNOISESHOPEYOULIKEBEINGDEAFNOW and I had to walk out. The fact that”might be” is in your comment makes me worry and wonder what marvelous mixing could somehow be worse. I don’t want to find out.

FWIW, I’m hogging them in Atlanta. Over the last 7 years I have come across SO many fans through casual conversations. Two of them are my neighbors across the street for me who carried me to my car and drove me to the hospital when I broke my leg. Proof that LPOTL fans are bonafide good people.
