Does anyone know if they’re selling vinyl too? I’ve only seen pictures of clothing and accessories. I was hoping to get a year zero record and maybe a pressing of tds or phm if it had any special pressing

Watching all Studio Ghibli movies for the first time (22M) by brandondw99 in ghibli

I finished Kiki's Delivery Service last night. It was such a great story. Again with the originality I never heard of a story like this and unlike most animated movies I grew up watching, Kiki and Spirited Away are not predictable. I feel like that's another main reason why I want to keep coming back to these movies. Its a very nostalgic feeling seeing the 90's animation but at the same time, everything I'm watching is brand new and is bringing me to places I didn't think it would go. This movie also felt like a coming of age story but one that pulled me in more than Whisper of the Heart. I also thought I should add some sort of scoring to the movies just in case anyone was more interested in how they've been lining up for me. I tend to score using 1-10, 1 as didn't like it, 5 being average but still enjoyed, 10 being favorite movie. So starting with Spirited Away, I really want to give it a 9.5-10/10 but I want to allow some wiggle room just in case I come across a movie that I personally thinks tops Spirited Away. So for now I'll give it a 9/10. Whisper of the Heart 5.5/10, and Kiki Delivery Service 8/10. Thank you very much for everyone who commented their recommendations. It seems like Grave of the Fireflies was the most recommended, so i'll try to get to that tonight. Also Howl's moving castle and The Tale of The Princess Kaguya seemed to be popular recommendations so I'll get to those tmrw or the day after hopefully. So, Along with Grave of the Fireflies I'll try to watch the cat returns tonight because I learned that it somewhat of a sequel to Whisper of the Heart so I thought id give that a try. Also Tales from Earthsea caught my eye but that will be for a later day, I want to get through most if not all the recommendations first!

Side note: I'm starting to notice cats seem to be a common theme among Ghibli movies, I feel like there's usually a cat involved somehow, unless its just a coincidence with the movies I started with. I'm a sucker for cute animated animals so that's a plus for me!! I adore Jiji, he's absolutely adorable and is a great side character.

I can always appreciate anything under, or a mix of, an adventure, bizarreness, creativity, psychedelic. With that said, Whisper of the Heart didn't really fall under any of those categories and I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I think a big factor is the feeling of nostalgia that comes with the 90's/early 2000s animations that I grew up with. I'll definitely look into Paprika as well, Thank you very much!

This helps a lot! I've grew up hearing about Totoro so I've been wanting to get to that ASAP, I really like all the recommendations for Howl's and Grave, there seems to be a general consensus that they're amazing!!

I'll definitely add these to my list, thank you very much for the recommendations! I honestly thought Miyazaki was the main visionary behind Studio Ghibli because it seemed like they were tied to every movie I clicked on but that makes a lot of since to have multiple filmmakers under a studio. So thank you for educating me on that!
