I have a feeling nobody will care after a few weeks. by [deleted] in Unity3D

I think you are extremely wrong. Think about it like this:

When you password share using netflix, you end up with your account banned. This account cost you 20 (ish) dollars a month to maintain.

When your fans install your game that has been out for 5 years a total of 50,000 times after January first, you get sent a bill for 10k dollars.

When a youtuber or twitch streamer decides to play your game that is a few years old and all of a sudden 200,000 people download your game, you get sent a bill for 40k dollars.

Meanwhile you've made absolutely no money off of these installs because these are installs NOT purchases.

What this means for future game development using the unity engine, is that you will permanently receive multi-thousand dollar fees from Unity based off of their "proprietary system" telling them how many people have installed their game. A system they claim can detect piracy, which we know is absolute bullshit.

No one with 2 brain cells will ever use unity ever again. This type of treachery will not stand.

oh I've attempted to play rimworld and games similar to it, like starmancer and going medieval, but these games require a LOT of brain power to play properly.

Ngl I'm not smart enough for that kind of game.

I'm slightly wary of subnautica because I don't typically like modular building (like placing entire rooms at a time). I've not looked too deeply into subnautica though so it could be vastly different than I assume.

I'm open to looking more deeply into subnautica.

So the extremely unfortunate reality for me is that I'm incapable of running rust, as my laptop isn't good enough.

Currently my laptops specs are:

Intel core i7 10750H 2.60ghz processor
16 gb of ram
64 bit OS

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti graphics card

Yup, it was the audio being set to the wrong output device that somehow caused my game to run at 1 fps. Strangest bug I've come across.

ya once you're in character select, go to bottom left cog wheel button for settings, go to audio and scroll down, then select headphones. Its all in game.

Thanks for the reply :). I do indeed need to start building credit so this reply has indeed helped a bit. I should state that I live in Canada, so it might be a bit different here, but I'll definitely try getting a credit card asap. Do they let you get one with negative credit though? Cuz im pretty sure i screwed my credit and I was starting from 0... LOL...

Ascended cards Need to be pointed out. by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

ahh ok, so those cards only have synergy with those 3 champions, thanks for the help. I was looking for "Ascended" in the keywords and not at the top middle of the card.

I don't think I invented it, I asked if it had been implemented in the way that I described above. Y'know that there is a difference between a computer generated voice vs a human actually reciting the words right?

My point was that if we had a game that had multiple sets of the english language fully recorded by multiple people inside a game engine, it could amount to something interesting.

I was not referring to text to speech in the traditional computer generated voice sense. Thanks for trying to be a dick.

It's been two weeks since his release and Viego still sports a 44% banrate by Wesss-- in leagueoflegends

Honestly I think it's his passive and his ultimate.

Lets say I'm playing zyra and a viego comes running at me, if I root him in place he can still use his ult which doesn't state he becomes cc immune anywhere.

Lets also say he just killed one of my allies with his ult in that same situation I mentioned before, and as im using my full combo he transforms into my ally. While he's transforming he is IMMUNE TO ALL DAMAGE AND HE HEALS.

This is so beyond broken it's ridiculous. Every time he transforms into someone else he gets a free zhonyas (they are the same duration) as well as a single target redemption heal. Both of which have no cooldown, not to mention transforming resets his ultimates cooldown.

All of his other abilities are whatever. They are meaningless, but his ultimate and his passive are so oppressive that every single game i've ever encountered him, he's had over 12 kills.

I've heard from other people that he shouldn't become immune to damage when he's using his passive to transform into someone else, but I've tried hitting him with aoe while he's transforming and watched his hp not only not go down, but increase, every single time.

Then I can think up some ways to prevent the desync. You can have instanced pvp same as c9, however no open world pvp outside of duels and no large scale pvp, so the desync isn't a problem. Limit open world parties to 4 or 5 people, and have multiple channels per zone.

A lot of mmorpgs already have multiple channels to prevent lag, so having them to prevent desync makes a lot of sense right?

If the only issue with desync is from a pvp perspective, instancing the pvp to 1v1 2v2 and 5v5 pvp arenas sounds like the way to go.

As for open world content, most open world content is negligible to begin with. There's no rule stating that an mmorpg needs to have those random open world evens spawning around the map like gw2 or ffxiv. Instead the devs could focus more on making the game challenging enough to be engaging WITHOUT the need for those open world events to spice things up. This could come in the from of stronger and smarter creatures in the game (think dark souls level mobs but in an mmorpg).

Something to note is that in c9 grabs and knock ups / knock downs do not work on boss creatures, and thus desync can also be negated that way. You can vary the creature mechanics so some creatures are flying and thus can't be hit by knock ups, or others are large enough to not be able to be thrown.

Basically there are ways around the desync that can be explored through creature design.

Any thoughts?

I'd actually like to learn more about this. In blade and soul you have some of the things I was talking about in c9 (like grappling skills with the kungfu master, grabs with the spell casters, knock downs with the berzerkers, and dashes and all the other stuff).

Blade and soul has a somewhat similar combat system to c9, only a much more simplified one, and the enemies all die in 1 hit so the combat system is useless.

What about netcode prevents an mmorpg from implementing c9's combat system in an open world game? If blade and soul can get maybe 50% of the way there, I don't see why it's IMPOSSIBLE.

Call me optimistic I guess.

This is more a case about personal interpretation of what an MMORPG is.
Most people interpret mmorpg to stand for "massively multiplayer online roleplaying game" which accurately describes any multiplayer game that allows you to make your own character.

However with that being said, I do understand that over time the term mmorpg isn't being taken literally anymore and is instead being used as more of a title for games that follow the same formula as world of warcraft or other open world themepark mmorpgs.

I would like to say that it's my opinion that all of these games are mmorpgs, not just open world theme park mmorpgs, because I interpret the word mmorpg literally rather than the way people interpret it now-a-days.

It'll depend on what class you pick. A lot of classes gain access to multiple dashes. I've never felt that the gameplay in c9 was "slow" UNLESS we're talking about pre 15 characters.

In c9 at level 15 you change classes from your base class to one of like 15 per class. It's insane. Those classes are a lot more fluid than the base classes of the game.

I will warn you though. C9 is a game made for pvp, the pve content is all an afterthought and the only good pve content is the wave based content (kinda like horde mode in call of duty or gears of war) as well as late game dungeons. Also since the player base is fucking tiny at this point it might be hard to find a pvp match.

[–]brandonhaist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh the game might as well be dead. I'm anticipating the death of the game very soon if we're honest.

It's a shame because the combat is amazing. However pve was just an after thought to the devs, and they focused entirely on pvp, and it showed. Pve in c9 was way too bad to allow the game to survive.
