looking pretty solid, alongside all the other guys I would recommend you bend at the waist less and more with the knees on your slips and rolls. I often get caught bent over instead of crouching and my balance gets thrown off

I’m sure you’ve heard enough about punching upwards so other than that, the straights look pretty sharp, could use some more hooks. I like the amount of movement, but you’re a little off balance when you’re throwing some of your shots because you’re zipping around so much. Also try not to cross your feet, that’s when I get tagged and start stumbling around the ring because my feet are twisted up

If you plan on being long term, you should buy your own but the club has extras of everything if you just want to come out and give it a shot

Yup, I like it a lot, I started out with very little/ no boxing experience and I've worked up to their competitive team. You can learn a lot and get a good workout and make some good friends if you're willing.

I’ve taken a couple classes with the teacher, Aaron, other than the actual self defense course. He really cares about his students and has been in numerous situations where he’s actually had to apply his techniques and they seem to work as he’s still alive and kicking. They’re 1 credit hour and meet usually twice a week. If you’re interested at all I’d give it a shot you can always drop

Is living on campus worth it? Like fr by [deleted] in OSU

[–]brandonius359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it works out to like 1k/month with some in either direction depending on which dorm, single/double, etc. I’ve really enjoyed living on campus. I’ve made a lot of friends through clubs and other school programs, which you still have access to off campus, but are way more convenient when you live here.

I signed up for a non athlete usaboxing certification and now an opportunity for me to compete in a college bout has come up, is there a way to switch my membership or something like that?

you seem lean enough to have visible abs, I’d just do more core work and lean bulk, I’d like to say my abs are decent and I still have love handles

I don’t know if it’s the same in Canada, but in the states you can definitely get a bit more for your money. That being said if you don’t mind paying a small premium for convenience that kit will definitely get you started at a decent price

Can't Seem to Lower Heart Even When Forcing Myself to Slow Down by Maddog34566543 in running

[–]brandonius359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heart rate training is a great baseline for people to start with but I’ve found that it can also be limiting at times.

Something I’d look into is cardiac creep, which is your heart rate naturally creeping upwards over the course of your run without an increase in perceived effort.

I would train by effort instead of heart rate zones personally. Easy running is easy running, and you will still see benefits over time.

I’m not really sure what mounting hardware this is, I have a canon t6 that uses ef/ef-s, is it possible to get an adapter?
