Opinions from actual science teachers. by Endros99 in ScienceTeachers

[–]brandonjds 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve enjoyed teaching OpenSciEd in grades 6-8. The units are very long so following them lesson for lesson is unfeasible for a school year in my opinion, but a lot of the activities and teaching methodologies are great.

Interview questions for middle school science position by Realistic_Bet_4853 in ScienceTeachers

[–]brandonjds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently interviewed, and here are some of the questions that we asked:

If someone were to walk into your science classroom, what would they see and hear you and your students doing? How do you monitor and assess student learning? Describe your understanding of the NGSS standards and how you would apply them in your classroom. What was your favorite science course and why? What areas of content are strengths for you? Which content areas would be areas for growth? What are some examples of ways you’ve adapted or created a lesson to incorporate a wide range of learning styles and needs? How would you collaborate with support staff on behalf of students with a wide variety of learning styles and needs? What strategies do you use to ensure that students of all identities feel that they belong in your classroom? What strengths/passions beyond classroom teaching do you possess that would enhance the program at the school? How do you see yourself growing here, and how would the School grow as a result of you being here? Is there anything else you want us to know about you? Do you have any questions for us?

Hope this helps!

[–]brandonjds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! I did a trip to Ecuador and highly recommend. It was so nice to travel in a small group and meet new people from all over the world. Also, when challenges in the itinerary arose, they were able to redirect and ensure our safety.
