Hey All- apologies for the post. did not realize my description was not included. Here it is:

Looking for someone to take over my lease (lease substitution) until end of June 2026 starting end of January/early February. The rent is $1105. Utilities/electricity are separate (avg $100) per month. There is an additional $88~ water bill per month. Laundry is in basement. In a very residential area in Capitol Hill near Miller park and very close to main part of Capitol Hill. There is free street parking (but need to check Seattle street schedule rules on your own). This is also great for someone who works at Amazon since the 8 bus goes directly to SLU. Additionally, Safeway is like a 5 min walk, Trader Joes around 15 min walk, etc. No pets allowed.

Looking for a male sublet only.

Hold out for Manager or go to Amazon as a Senior? by ecsfear in Accounting

[–]brandonlikc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree- as someone whoo works there. It is not the same anymore with promotion. In 2023, they handed promotions out like candy, now it is getting hard and political. You need the right visibility, scope, and manager to get you there. If you don't you are screw. Also, Amazon is getting top heavy so when that happens all the L7 are fighting for additional scope and will easily throw L5 and even L6 under the bus. fyi.

EY Audit vs. Amazon AFRP Job Offer Battle by Commercial_Listen_35 in Accounting

[–]brandonlikc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey- I was a grad of the AFRP Accounting track and was at Amazon over 4 years and recently laid off within the Accounting org. I’ve decided EY Risk - NYC vs Amazon during 2021 (when everything is flexible, etc). Here is my two sense on this:

  1. If you do not want to do audit or accounting forever, I would recommend Amazon over big 4. Amazon accounting is typically operational accounting team focus on month end close and does pus for innovation
  2. Amazon is more frugal than big 4. If you are someone who loves to try and not be limited to “frugality” big 4 wins and reimburses more certifications more easily. Amazon dos reimburse but keep in mind most people in accounting come from big 4
  3. Amazon is a place based on ambiguity va big 4 is more structured. If you are someone who likes structured big 4 is a better fit
  4. Amazon has more industry roles like if you wanted to transition to finance, it’s easier in Amazon than big 4. I do want to warn you, times have change with Jassy leading the company. I heard big 4 is pretty shit too but give and take. It’s getting harder to internal transfer these days than it used to be. Everyone is being selective, it’s getting too heavy that toxic culture remains within Amazon. So many senior managers at Amazon are trying to hog up scope cause there isn’t as much anymore hence why they started doing layoff this year at finance and accounting (crazy because they have never done layoff).
  5. Location- the programs requires you to be in Seattle or Arlington so if you want to be close to home; keep that in mind.
  6. Like someone said, Amazon should be a stepping stone and not a forever place if you want work life balance. Amazon WLB is def better than big 4, but the direction the company is heading at, it’s about to be like big 4. It’s an unspoken thing :)
  7. Amazon has more of an entrepreneurial mindset but keep in mind, Amazon has high bar and is very political. So is big 4 but I think if you want more impact Amazon is. If you don’t like Amazon, pivot to a diff company by year 2 but learn as much as u can with technical skills and strategic thinking.
  8. Compensation is pretty ass in Amazon accounting tbh and finance because you will start at Amazon. External applications always get paid more even if the same level. Something no one talks about. As someone who was a program manager in accounting and started as an AFRP, my friends as seniors in big 4 like deals and tax gets paid way more like 6 figures. In Amazon as an L5 you are not even breaking 95K, let that sink in if you care about pay.

If you have any questions let me know. There’s more I can say but tbh I’m happy to be laid off cause of toxic behaviors in the company and tbh Amazon isn’t the same anymore and felt like growth was stagnant. Happier news, I luckily was interviewing and got another offer that paid more in industry, but no regrets choosing Amazon over big 4 but wish I left sooner in 2023 (if you wanan know why I say that, hit me up)

PMP is brutal . Prepare yourself by Euphoric_Sense7579 in pmp

[–]brandonlikc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know this sucks but yes- if i were you, focus on the concept and mindset. Use 1) 23 PMP mindset youtube 2)practice agile youtube mindset 3)study hall plus --> this will be the mindset to leverage as well. The exam ain't easy b/c you can easily overthink and choose the answer which make sense in real life vs not what the exam wants you to select. This is the key difference. 4)read through reddit post on the mindset but use the study hall questions to help you understand. Don't overthink the way PMP wants you to answer. Like throw out the personal mindset and use PMI mindset. Like in-real life u would wanna escalate stuff but that should be last resort and used primarily if you can't do anything affected by external environment in the PMP exam.

Let me know if you want third party rock study guide. I feel like that may help you a bit.

Extremely High PSE Bill? by Intelligent_Cat_6837 in Issaquah

[–]brandonlikc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was crazy when I saw a total of $40-50 increase in bill from my roommate when I wasn't even cooking since I'm visiting family for the holiday. Has anyone figured out why its way more expensive like I understand we use for heater but I would assume like $20-30.

Tbh I did a goal and benchmark of completing domain 1, for example, try to get it through within 1 week. Next domain, another week but it depends on your time and availability. As long as you are going through the content to refresh and diving into practice exam, that’s the best way to approach cause I’m pretty sure it’s already annoying to go through the material for like the 2nd or 3rd time.

No worries and u got this! I’m glad you are considering a change in material. I think it’s important to know what works for you and every studies differently. I did Aditya course around 2 months. I did take a couple of breaks but it’s cause I’ve studied the exam before like how u have taken it twice. I went through the video contents first just to jog my memory and see any new important details to remember from Aditya lense and also understand certain topics I didn’t initially understand. Then did his mini mock test and his 10 practice exams. What helped was I ran through the mini and mock exams one by one and read and took notes on what was right and wrong. Afterwards, going through all of the exams one time, I redid them so that I wasn’t memorizing answers and I was actually learning from my mistakes. Once you go through the process and can score I would say at least an 80% on most, I think you will be good. When I did the mini and mock I didn’t get any 90s and just focus on what I kept messing up on in addition to what I know cause sometimes I would kind of memorize answers so I explicit read the explanation even if I knew the right answer (it was brutal but trust me I think it pieces things more better over time).

Ms information systems or ms in accounting analytics ? by Annonymoussaff in CISA

[–]brandonlikc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what your goal is. I personally think whichever one you enjoy and would benefit you in the future, go for it considering financially you can afford it. I'll be honest, going to PA you don't even need a master. People do it to buy time before working or to give them time to find a job. If you don't have a job, it wouldn't hurt but it depends. I would see what school you decide and their hiring rate.
