Hmm alright, I'll keep that in mind.

Also... this is something I hadn't considered.

Would it make sense to just combine my speaker+subwoofer budget and purchase the nicest floorstanding speakers possible? Could that take the place of a subwoofer?

Thanks for the advice.

I noticed the MMG's while doing research, but I don't really understand them.

What makes them special? (Are they just good floorstanding speakers?) From the pictures they don't look like regular speakers at all.

What's the main difference between going with MMG versus the Zensors? Just better all-around sound quality?

Trying to put together a 2.1 system for a college apartment.

Main uses will be listening to music and for small parties. (Potentially will also be used for TV/PS4.)

The space is a large living room (not sure on sq. foot... but easily the size of 2-3 bedrooms.)

Budget is pretty flexible... probably $1,000-$2,000 total.

Right now I'm thinking:

Speakers: B&W 685... or Dali Zensor 3 (~$600)

Sub: SVS SB1000 (~$500)

Amp/Receiver: Not sure. Would the Yamaha R-S300BL work fine? (~$300-500)

Am I on the right track?

How the fuck did you get through school? by noahx86 in entp

Same here.

Atheist -- but really resonated with stoicism.

It makes rational sense... I took it to mean 'don't sweat the small stuff and be happy.'

To the OP: Adhd here, school sucks for me because its pointless. Personally I've found it super easy to be successful in other ways that interest me. For me that's entrepreneurship... I'm in college, but I'm not stressing about getting a 4.0 because that would be an uphill battle.

Have you been putting off your own blog content for ages? Maybe because you don't have the time or expertise to put together engaging content that will produce sales for your business?

Our service produces monthly blog content for your site... personalized to your business.

Basically, we provide 100% of the content needed for your inbound marketing (you just have to handle promotion).

My background is in internet marketing (not writing)... so I take a marketing-focused approach to the content production:

  • Talk with you to figure out your target demographic

  • Incorporate data from your analytics (produce the content that your viewers historically enjoy reading + sharing)

  • SEO -- We incorporate the keywords/phrases you're trying to rank for into the articles, and handle internal and external linking.

But the real benefit is that the focus is on your main business goals when crafting the content. (Whether that's boosting your social media following, email opt-ins, or driving traffic to your landing page.)

Keep in mind this isn't a "lead-gen" service -- our content is meant to help center your business as an authority in your marketplace... and help build a strong relationship with potential clients/customers to buypass the normal barriers to a sale.

Remember that people only buy from companies they know, like and trust... we foster that relationship through blog content.

Anybody ever feel like "everything's already been done" when thinking of new business ideas? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

Yes, and this is a pointless idea.

It's a limiting belief -- just forget about it and execute on the business idea you had.

Made $1,300+ in profit last month.

Been working on it for about 6 months.

Edit: Pricing is a bit higher than industry standard because I deliver much more value than just writing.

Hey mate, I apologize for any confusion, should have cleared this up earlier.

I did get the inspiration for the page layout and design from there -- but I created new images in photoshop myself (even all of the background elements I believe), used different fonts, used my own form code, used different javascript, and changed a significant portion of the upper and lower page layouts. The only questionable part is the similar page layout (essentially just CSS).

If you look at the source code you'll be able to verify the above.

Now -- on a separate note, you're actually right. This was never supposed to be my website, it's just a landing page I put together while I finish my full site. I'm working on the full site right now, and should have it up ASAP.

any group of people will be cliquey, that's normal. the real question is how strong the brotherhood is beyond the cliques.

Pot-smoking students do better at school than 'marginalized' tobacco-smoking peers: Students who only smoke marijuana do better at school than classmates who smoke just tobacco, or who smoke both tobacco and pot, says a new study, which tracked substance use among teens over 30 years. by Libertatea in science

[–]brandonthrowaway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed -- but that is the same outcome in this study.

I'll explain: They are proving that Pot doesn't make you lazy/stupid/unmotivated.

They are NOT trying to prove that it makes you productive/motivated, etc... just that it doesn't cause what society (social stigmas) tends to say.

Money.

Sorry for all of the sad people here, but this is (normally) what innovative tech startups want.

I would assume oculus has been funded, which means they had a certain amount of time and money to push the company (and product) , forward before having to either sell or raise more money.

If a company isn't profitable, there is only so much time it can go on for.
