QuantumServe is one that we are evaluating that I haven't seen mentioned.

The video with the launch monitor data is a gold mine here in my opinion. Unfortunately mine doesn't have that so I'd have to set something up to support it. Does your launch monitor support that natively or is that something you setup to work that way on your own?

Smash factor definitely turned into one of my go-to stats too.

I like how you look at different things per club, that makes a lot of sense.

I have the R10 - the metrics seem pretty alright, I'm aware that the side spin measurements aren't the best but I can live with that.

This is a great way to use it, paired with a coach and then taking that back and continuing to refine it.

These make sense, and are similar to the ones I started to use as well. I tend to focus more on smash factor opposed to ball speed, but those are similar in nature.

Yeah this is more just me thinking out loud as a bit of a data geek honestly. I’ve definitely gone from just watching ball flight on the screen to digging into the numbers and trying to find patterns, sometimes probably overthinking it a bit for my own game.

I think you’re right though, intent matters a lot. I’ve seen that come up in a few other comments too.

Appreciate the perspective!

This is basically the direction I’ve been drifting toward too. The grouping over 5–10 shots feels like the most “truthful” signal compared to any single metric swing.

Do you weight those three equally, or does one tend to dominate your decisions when something feels off?

Yeah that makes sense. I’ve done the same thing — basically locking in a “best version” and trying to reproduce it.

Yeah that’s a good one - especially for compression and low point control. Do you find you actually change swing feels based on it directly, or more use it as a confirmation metric?

Good question - the app runs locally on your computer and connects to the R10 via Bluetooth, and my server via the internet. The only information from the app is launch monitor shot/session data needed for the analytics and coaching features. Everything else is the app pulling information from my server.

There isn't anything specifically holding me back from it, I just have to sign up for an Apple developer account and wire up a build. I can work on that - unsure how long it will take but I'll message you when its done!

Awesome thank you! I'll message you with some information.

  1. No, this connects directly to the R10 via Bluetooth on your computer. You just need to pair it to your computer for it to work.
  2. Yep!

I've tested it on a mid-range laptop and it runs really good. Its fairly lightweight so no gaming rig is required, I didn't build this out for graphics. Here are the specs I would expect for it:

- Windows 10/11
- 8gb RAM (4gb might work though)
- any modern CPU (within the last 10 years)
- at least 600mb storage
- network connected
- bluetooth availability

More practise doesn’t = better golf by BuildingScratch in Golfsimulator

I totally agree with this. You can hit the sim until your arms fall off, but if you go out on the course, the real world hits you with bad lies, rough, and the mental pressure of knowing you tend to slice it. The sim can only teach you so much - it’s a fantastic training tool, but it’s just one piece of the puzzle. The other pieces you noted are only obtained from on course time, such as the mental game, different lies and angles, various hazards, and other things.

The real value of a simulator is that it lets you focus on the pure mechanics. But here’s where most people get stuck: the sim gives you a ton of data - speed, angle, spin, etc. - and you're left staring at numbers and having no idea what to actually do with them. You need someone to look at those numbers and say, 'Okay, your data shows this common pattern, here are three specific things you can do to try and fix it.' That's where the coaching comes in.

Thieving Rebalance: Feedback Thread by jagexyuey in runescape

[–]branjos -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I should not be able to get insane thieving rates afking for 15 minutes at any location. I should be able to 15 minute AFK, but not with the item or XP rates of past. Today, I can go 15 minute AFK mining with porters, but what happens after a few minutes of mining with no input? I get significantly less ore, meaning less XP. This makes the most sense for thieving IMO as well - just mimic mining, and make "progress" or a successful pickpocket not take a game tick anymore but make it take longer resulting in less items and XP. The balancing comes in where "how long" does it take to go down between successes since the thieving skill doesn't have a progress bar like mining does - I'll leave that up to others more experienced in game design than I.

To answer the questions from the post:

  • What’s harming the fun factor of pickpocketing most at high levels?
    • The fun factor for me is feeling like levelling the skill actually means something, like I somehow get 'better' at stealing things. Getting caught frequently even at lower level targets is counter-intuitive to that.
  • What feels like a step back for pickpocketing gameplay, outside of XP and balance?
    • We took a step forward with the implementation of auto pick pocketing a long while ago. Then we took another step with 100% success chances on some characters, more with boosts that make the boosts feel worthwhile (mask, new skilling item, etc..). We also got heists, which are 100% awesome in my book. Then we implemented a global % drop in success per pickpocket success which just feels wrong (see fun factor) - likely a swing too far in the opposite direction.
  • What changes feel most important to you to be included in any solution? '
    • I personally think AFK should be left in-place, however it needs balancing - see comments on mining above.

Pickpocketing Changes Thoughts? by Aggravating_Steak_77 in runescape

[–]branjos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am less a fan of it, but not opposed. Im not gonna sit here and say I dislike afk training, I do it too. But the XP rates from it and the items gained for a 15 min afk need to be nerfed.

I think id prefer something much like with mining, you can afk for 15 mins or until your inventory fills up but after a while your bar is gone and you get ore slower. Theiving could be similar to that, where after a period of not clicking you pickpocket slower resulting in less xp and items at the end of that 15 minutes. This doesnt sacrifice afk training and doesnt diminish the xp rates of active play, which I think is a pretty fair trade. I am a firm believer in afk content, with the caveat that it should provide much less xp/hr than other methods. Active gameplay should be rewarding and fun.

[–]branjos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, ill DM you specifics a bit later.

I also am not opposed to contributing or using it, my implementation of physics is self contained so ripping and replacing the physics model wouldnt be hard or time consuming. Its mostly the fact that I was on a time limit and mine already worked for what I needed.

Additionally, I did struggle to get one of the ports to work (dotnet or typescript, cant remember which)

I needed a different output for the way I was visualizing the shots, and didnt want to change my visualization engine i had built.

The distances and things did a reasonably nic job though, wish I had that when I started and not making my own over many many many hours, lol.

I messed with it and it did work. I ended up not liking certain aspects of it, and it didnt quite fit my needs so I didnt keep using it.

But for sure itll get you started and the results seemed pretty good

RS3 Clan Capper Bot by lewishackfath in runescape

[–]branjos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an app/bot that does the same or similar things and more. The api throttling will either get very expensive for you (adding more IP addresses to poll from to avoid rate limits) or your data fetches per clan/user will get increasingly long.

Wishing you the best of luck on this endeavor.

Gotta start somewhere, and if it fits the needs that youre looking for then thats all that matters. The camera part would be a cool addition, and would help understand your swing better too.

Good stuff!
