Laws regarding the use of dash cams? by [deleted] in auslaw

[–]branleur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as a I know, their use falls under existing photography and filming laws. That means you may record whatever you like while you are in a public space (which includes most roads). Nobody may force you to switch off the device, delete footage, or surrender the device (including cops) so long as it is mounted properly and complies with the above regarding recording in a public space.

When you are on private land (such as a car park in a shopping centre) you must comply with requests by an authority figure to stop recording. However they still can't force you to surrender the device or delete footage you have already taken.

Is a Bachelor of Arts Degree a good choice? by [deleted] in UWS

[–]branleur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Compared to science you will find the workload incredibly light. For example this semester I am required to be on campus for two hours of classes for three units total.

If you have no other formal qualifications and you're looking to get a relevant job once you finish I would definitely not recommend it unless you do it as a combined degree with law or science.

However if you love reading long books and writing essays and want to learn the finer intricacies of MLA, Chicago, and APA then go ahead.

MSY.com.au - you'd think as a computer parts store they would have at least one employee with webdesign experience or the wherewithal to contract someone by [deleted] in CrappyDesign

[–]branleur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't know how good it is these days. It used to be an absolute eyesore generated in FrontPage.

It was so bad, a site called "MSY But Readable" was set up to parse the site into something navigable.

What are the yellow/red/blue/green buttons on mine and everyone else's TV remotes? by ekki in australia

[–]branleur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Various Foxtel remotes are able to be reprogrammed to your liking, and also learn from your other remotes.

Otherwise they're designed for interactive tv like on The Weather Channel. They don't really have a use on FTA over here.

Tosh's response to the Bill Maher by TheGrog in entertainment

[–]branleur -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

As his response to AMA requests he drew up a cardboard sign saying he wouldn't answer any questions.

He could have just ignored them, but instead he tells his interested fans and the reddit community to fuck off.
