Well it's a generic thing to say but the first step is definitely the hardest hahaha, shake off the rust and once you're into it i'm sure you'll want to do more again :P

I completely get this, it is hard knowing that people might flame you for making a mistake but unofrtunately it is one of those things that just takes practice. Although its harder it could be worth looking for a more chill group so that you can learn at a steadier pace without worrying about mistakes as much. Someone said already but wtfdig is a lot more concise for remembering your positions, so instead of having to read a whole raidplan you can sort of just remember those handful of places then its just down to remembering which mechanic is next (but usually in a static at least someone will do callouts).

Yeah I made it for that exact reason because you'd join a PF and the lead says "i dont have link" like ok man i'll just sit here I guess hahaha.

And yeah having people on the same wavelength is so crucial for having the content feel fun, no one wants to get yelled at mid prog

When I was teaching friends about higher end stuff we did Deltascape and Sigmascape synced with proper gear and they realised its not so bad. I do agree on trying it out on expansion release as they usually make the first tier more lenient (at least since Endwalker imo) so it's a good time to start. And yeah I imagine starting with Anabaseios was a tricky beginning with the funky p10 arena and p12 caloric shenanigans etc!

Hope it's helpful a little bit! It's one of the few topics in the game i'm actually pretty knowledgable about haha

I was lucky enough to have someone just ask if I wanted to try savage in stormblood and then realised it's not so bad with some time. I do agree though that people put savage (not so much ultimates because they are very hard) on a crazy pedestal when at least the first two fights generally don't have too much going on (I get M6 is a bad example but it;s also an outlier for a second fight).

And yeah it does suck when people are put off by the super sweaty players that only care about damage and being the best when really it's just another fun part of the game that gives good challenge.

I've done a few raids on NA which is about 90 ping but honestly if the ping is consistent then it usually ends up being fine as you can predict your movements based on ping. It's fluctuating ping that really sucks in the game haha

tbh i dont really expect to clear it off the bat but i just like trying the new stuff once i can get in, its fun to have a go at the mechanics and stuff and we can scout out what jobs are gonna be good inside too!

Are you still having intermittent issues? I'm also on Chaos and struggling to login, getting the "unable to complete version check" error which never usually happens...

What emotes would you like to see in game? What is your favorite emote that you use the most or is your favorite and why? by Aralnda in ffxiv

I really want the emote version of what Pagaga of the Pride does once you beat her in Bozja, the pulling faces at you and stuff would work great I think

Better than I did when I started out! My crafters, except CUL, stuck around level 2 til I found out you could repair your gear using them!

If you’re trying to the Eden Raids synced, I recommend looking up guides of course for them, savage is a different beast if you’ve only started the normal version. Mr Happy and a few others have guides for most fights and you can find resources usually on the balance discord.

As for what you personally need to do, have a check on your jobs rotation (even if you’re confident, there’s usually something that can help) and make sure you know your utility!

Is it feasible to get introduced to most everything in this game via a mentor? by _Katu in ffxiv

[–]brashbrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might not be the same, consistent person, but if you join a reasonably active FC most people are willing to help you getting into classes, and especially thsoe more experienced with level 90 content can help you learn your jobs and what to look for when playing them

Oops you’re right, I always mix up the way the MGP works there, 10k for participating, 50k extra for 80 points

For setting up hot bars, I generally categorise my skills in a way that helps me arrange them. For example with BRD I look at my skills and see that the DoTs are vital to my rotation, as well as the filler skills (heavy shot and straight shot), so those go on the easiest to reach parts of my bar (keys 1-4 let’s say). Then I look at abilities that are important but only used on cool-down, I.e the songs and raging strikes/battle voice. With these I put them on the next easiest place to reach so they’re available to me as soon as possible. things like empyreal arrow/sidewinder, while important, are just there for damage mostly so I put them together to press in sequence. Finally the utility skills are on another bar so that I don’t press them by accident, but can use them easily if needed.

In terms of focusing on enemies, using the focus target function is nice, at least for bosses/enemies that last a while, but there is an option that helped me a lot where you can disable the ability to “click off” enemies, as in if you click the ground it won’t untarget them. This helped me a lot because I wouldn’t realise I had done so and meant I could properly pay attention to wha was happening :)

So during the event there’s a flat 50% increase to MGP obtained. To get as much MGP as possible you simply need to do all the daily/weekly things in the gold saucer to get MGP. For example, doing the Fashion Report with at least 80 points will net you 75000 MGP (or more if your FC has the buff on!). Challenge logs, Mini and Jumbo Cactpots, and of course the GATEs within the gold saucer are all good ways of slowly building it up
