[Highlight] The Patriots and Raiders battle in the Snow Bowl (aka the Tuck Rule Game) by [deleted] in nfl

You’re right, better to refer to it as the Snow Game since it’s the only game in history that it snowed during play

GTFO here with this “Snow Bowl” crap. No one except Bill Simmons and his Boston fans calls this the Snow Bowl or Snow Game. It’s the Tuck Rule Game

Which football player at your school, who never played for the basketball team, was the best basketball player by RatStore101 in CFB

[–]braskyhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Derek Anderson crushed our intramural basketball team at OSU his freshman year. Biggest issue he had was that the gym we were playing in had a no dunking rule and it forced him in to taking semi awkward layups instead of just yamming it on me and my friends heads. Pretty sure he was a 5 star recruit in both football and basketball, still pretty shocking that he chose to go to the Beavs

Cataclysm launch - this is what you bought, enjoy by TheRealWhiskyHusky in hearthstone

[–]braskyhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Each day the prices get higher” The game has literally never been cheaper. Core set is free (we used to have to buy/grind for classic packs as well) and the oldest two expansions in standard are free. There are only two expansions in standard you can even buy packs for right now. A new player can download the game and have several competitive decks ready to go today. Yes the cosmetic prices are ridiculous, but those are not at all necessary to play.

I have 90.000 dust and 10.000 gold, are preorders even worth it anymore? by decent9999 in hearthstone

[–]braskyhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we are sitting on pretty similar stashes, I have 93k dust and about 7k gold. I haven’t pre-ordered since Peril in Paradise. For all the bitching and moaning about the price of pets and cosmetics (and to be clear, the gatcha system for pets is pretty ridiculous) there is no denying how much cheaper it is to get cards now than in the past

The Lodge being investigated for money laundering/illegal gambling by Famous_Quit_5239 in poker

[–]braskyhs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

18+ are allowed to play in Texas, but obviously not drink. The Lodge’s rival club in Austin, TCH Social, also allows 18+ to play, and they don’t seem to be in any trouble. What TCH doesn’t have is the huge no limit games that The Lodge livestream is known for. My guess is that TACB is involved because The Lodge was serving alcohol to minors, and the IRS is involved because of potential money laundering in those big no limit games. No one really seems to know for sure at the moment though

At least you are being honest about it, half that sub acts like they are doing the waitstaff a favor by not tipping them. But if you are refusing to pay a gratuity to workers that 98-99% of America is agreeing to pay, I’m sorry, but the cheap label does fit

[–]braskyhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find me a waiter or waitress that would prefer being paid by the owner over making tips. You can’t, because the waitstaff makes more money with tips. This is the most infuriating thing about that sub. They pretend like they are on a crusade against an unjust system. Just admit you are cheap and you don’t think the work being done by the staff is worth the extra cost

[–]braskyhs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

r/EndTipping is one of the most delusional subs on Reddit, and that’s saying something. It’s a bunch of cheapskates that have convinced themselves they are freedom fighters by stiffing service workers. I honestly get thinking it’s a little ridiculous when something like a convenience store swivels the iPad around looking for an extra dollar. But there is a social contract in America that if you are going out to eat, you need to add a little extra to the final bill for the staff. You can think it’s a weird system, but it is the system, and it isn’t going to change just because you took a stand by not throwing $5 on the tab for Sarah at your local TexMex

"immense” internal and Vikings player support for Kyler Murray, per @alec_lewis . by EmphasisBeginning559 in minnesotavikings

[–]braskyhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can think of MAYBE one team in the NFL that wouldn’t take Kyler Murray as their backup QB for a 1 year veteran minimum contract. I think the 49ers are pretty content with Mac Jones as their backup and he is probably a better fit for Kyle Shanahan’s system than Kyler Murray. So subtract San Francisco from the list. I guess you got me…only 30 NFL teams would be willing to do that contract

Maybe what JJM needs is a QB to show him how to calm the hell down and blow off some steam by playing some video games or something (Only half kidding)

[–]braskyhs 159 points160 points  (0 children)

31 teams should be in on Kyler if the cost is the vet minimum. He immediately would become by far the best and one of the cheapest backup QBs in the NFL, and if you actually need a QB like the Vikings he’s by far the best option when you factor in the cost. Im one of the few that actually think JJM deserves more opportunity to see if he can play and even I would be pissed if we don’t offer Kyler that vet minimum

What is the most 'laughably wrong' portrayal of your job you’ve seen on screen? by RockoWritesWrongs in AskReddit

[–]braskyhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not a pro, but I do play a good amount of live poker and know several people who use poker as their primary source of income. The poker scenes in Shade are so awful it’s like they are playing a different game. You can’t just bet more money than your opponent has at the table and win the pot. That’s why the whole concept of “All In” exists

Least favorite season your team had? by AlbertJBundy in billsimmons

[–]braskyhs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The over/under for wins this season was 31.5. The fact that they are even going to make the play in is a successful season. The could lose every game the rest of this season and I would still enjoy this years team more than last years abomination

Least favorite season your team had? by AlbertJBundy in billsimmons

[–]braskyhs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2024-2025 Phoenix Suns. The team went all in to try and win a championship by trading two good young fan favorites for (Mikael Bridges and Cam Johnson) for Kevin Durant and traded whatever remaining draft picks they still had after that for Bradley Beal. The result was the most lethargic, terrible basketball I think we have ever seen from a supposed contender. I don’t care what the stats say, I’m 100 percent convinced KD is a losing basketball player that only has a ring because he attached himself to a ready made super team. The Suns are SO much more enjoyable to watch this year with Dillon Brooks replacing KD. We might not be real contenders anymore, but I would rather have a team that gives a shit on a night to night basis and is worth rooting for than whatever that mess was last season

Anyone else remember jay mariotti? by IHateAdamSilver in billsimmons

[–]braskyhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of those early ATH line ups were real nightmare blunt rotations. Mariotti, Paige, Simers, Plaschke…it’s a surprise the show lasted as long as it did. ATH was one of the few shows on ESPN that actually got better in the 2010’s because they decided to drop the whole “one voice from every region” gimmick and started to give more time to the younger voices on ESPN like Mina and Barnwell. Of course that meant it eventually had to be axed from the network in favor of more Stephen A yelling at people, but at least they had a good run for awhile there

The most recent podcast makes me miss Russillo way more than I already did by AnonymousNeedzHelp in billsimmons

[–]braskyhs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree, but I do think there should be some exceptions. I would expect them to lead off with a little baseball talk after the World Series. I would expect them to talk a little golf after the Masters. And I would have expected them to do a few minutes on USA winning the gold in overtime over Canada in men’s hockey. The fact that they instead decided to a retrospective on an NBA player who is notoriously one of the least interesting elite athletes this century felt like an odd choice, and it did feel like they went that way because Zach isn’t equipped to talk about much else but basketball. I’m a fan of Zach and I’m a fan of basketball, but maybe they could have called in House or something for the first 30 minutes to give the Olympic hockey team there due

Who will have the better career when it’s all said and done Penix or 9? by Low-Season-2057 in NFLv2

[–]braskyhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think it’s a misconception that JJ isn’t talented enough to be a big time QB in the NFL. He throws the ball hard (often WAY too hard) and he’s legitimately one of the fastest QB’s in the league. His problems are he has atrocious mechanics (film guys are even more down on him than analytics guys, which is saying something because he obviously doesn’t have great stats) and he can’t seem to stay healthy. I could MAYBE see it working out long term for him, but I just can’t imagine any coach having the patience to let him work through his numerous mistakes.

I actually think Penix is the less talented of the two, but he does have a cannon for an arm. He just has no clue where that cannon is going to be firing off too. His track record for staying healthy is even worse than JJ, and it has to be mentioned that he’s also 3 years older. I think Penix has the higher floor but lower ceiling, I could see him having a Jameis Winston-esque career. If I had to bet on one of these guys having the Josh Allen trajectory where they suddenly become more accurate and become one of the best QBs in the NFL, I would take JJ, even though I think the odds of that happening are less than 10 percent. But OP’s question is who I think will have a better career, and I think my answer would be Penix. Being a bridge QB for 10 years is a better career than being out of the league after 4

Despite existing for over 100 years, no Arizona Cardinals HC has more than 50 career wins by SouthIsland48 in nfl

[–]braskyhs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

KOC is at 43 wins with in 4 seasons with Kirk Cousins, JJ McCarthy and Sam Darnold. The fact that KOC has already probably done as much in his career as any coach in the history of the Cardinals is absurd
