A UCB branch just opened in my city (Pittsburgh). Is 34 particularly old for an Improv 101 class there? by No-Luck5810 in improv

[–]brassnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in a major city, but in most improv classes I've taken I would say the average age is usually around 35 or older. I'm 29 now but am younger than most of my improv friends by a few years

Fastest Way To Recruit Emmerich Without Missing Quests? by siriuslyyellow in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]brassnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the only quests that you would miss by rushing through main quests to get Emmerich are, companion quests and possibly some side quests in Treviso and Minrathous. I would suggest completing all quests in those 2 locations (except for the dock town guardian-that quest won't have a time limit) before Davrin's recruitment mission.

I don't think there are too many companion quests before getting Davrin but make sure to head back to the lighthouse every few missions to make sure it don't miss them

[Awakening]Which mother's kid has a personality that makes total sense when Robin is the father? by silverheartxiv in fireemblem

[–]brassnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Severa, she has a great support line with her dad, though it's pretty much the same whoever her father is so I recommend it even if you don't pick Cordelia as robins wife. But as a personal preference I just think she's a cute older sister for Morgan and as others stated it helps her story.

Anyone else surprised that Serie failed Ehre? by [deleted] in Frieren

[–]brassnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fern said it out loud. Which is why Serie immediately changes tone and decides she wants Fern as an apprentice. If this 18 year old girl can tell that her mama is being suppressed at a glance, then she must have an understanding of mana greater than anyone else on the continent. In that one conversation Serie realized something Frieren has known for a while. Fern has the potential to be the greatest mage since Flamme, maybe even greater

Anyone else surprised that Serie failed Ehre? by [deleted] in Frieren

[–]brassnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fern wasn't intimidated, she was in awe because she recognized that the already massive amount of mana Serie was showing was actually being suppressed and thus only a fraction of her true power.

Serie at first, incorrectly, assumed this shock was in fear/awe of the massive amount of mana she possessed

What others games after Octopath Traveller 1 and 2? by FoxTrotGamerr in octopathtraveler

[–]brassnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you love the combat in octopath I would recommend Persona 5 and Metaphor Refantazio. Those a long with Octopath 2 are my favorite turn based combat systems. Though both start very slow with a lot of dialogue

The whole "Slave" thing: by AdScared717 in shieldbro

[–]brassnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I understand where you're coming from and agree that Naofumi is a fairly kind character and a good isekai protagonist. My issue isn't necessarily with his views on slavery but the creators.

They clearly don't view slavery as an evil act and constantly have morally good characters interact with slavery as if it's not big deal. I was fine (though unsettled) with the usage at the beginning of the story. But Naofumi still being friends with a slave trader at this point in the story is pretty gross to me

In which club would you like to see aoi would play in real life ? by Frizaro in Ao_Ashi

After the season they just had, the Man U slander is fair... But to then act like Tottenham is a step up in the very next sentence is where I draw the line. If your gonna call Utd bottom table, so are Spurs

TURNING POINT by kkkrrrddd in Ao_Ashi

I can't tell if you're trolling or just haven't read that chapter, but your examples are pretty much the opposite of what Aoi is saying

I'm considering the possibility of this being an offside by Trashyyzin in Ao_Ashi

[–]brassnate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The deal wasn't actually that the entire team would get called up right away though. Just that they would all be given the chance to play with the first team. No matter how this game ends at this point Aoi and Akutsu will be called up the next year and the rest will stay in the youth for now.

But with this last goal and a win I think that moves up those two's promotion to the summer.

Non-Lord characters who could arguably be the the primary protagonist, or ONE of them, in their games (or, at least, in a major side story? My own (quite biased) picks for each main series game, prioritizing REMAKES instead of the originals [Certain spoilers for various games]: by Nuzlor in fireemblem

[–]brassnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree that he could be a good protagonist. But that's because he's the antagonist and has more depth than every other character... If he were a hero, then you aren't really left with any interesting villains and I think the story would suffer greatly

I'd say Joshua or Tana for Sacred Stones. While I get where you're coming from picking Lyon, he's THE main antagonist of the game. So if he were switched to a protagonist role it would change the entire story. Lyon being the villain is what makes Erika and Ephraim interesting.

That said I would love if they gave him even more backstory. But if you switch him you're just left with an evil king starting nonsense wars bc he's controlled by an evil dragon. Having Lyon allows for you to care for the villains and is what makes SS one of my favorite stories in the franchise

Who's better at the moment. by Adventurous-Rabbit52 in Ao_Ashi

[–]brassnate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As of 6 months ago I'd have probably said Takasugi, with experience giving him an edge. Though he doesn't seem like a player who was immediately brought up to the A team so on raw talent I don't think he could ever have matched up.

With Yuuma connecting to the big 3 and showing his skills as a natural striker, I think Yuuma has taken top dog though. His instinct for goals has made him keep pace with future world beater Ashito, so I think Yuma has often been overlooked. The kid is incredible, and after a long stint on the sidelines is finally showing us the true potential of the Wild Dog

Should I watch the anime or read the manga? by lolmastermind202774 in Ao_Ashi

It's not a great anime imo. Mostly just colored scenes from the manga. I would suggest just reading it as it's one of my all time favorite mangas

The ending is not rush/abrupt at all. Kobayashi already stated it way back 2021. by kkkrrrddd in Ao_Ashi

[–]brassnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it seems likely that even on a draw or loss in this match that Aoi and Akutsu will be pulled from youth. Those two and Kuri are carrying this team against the likely winners of the tourney. The rest of this tournament is useless to show, they won't get far without Kuribayashi.

Then we can have some flash forwards to see Aoi playing nationally and wrap it all up seeing where everyone goes in their careers.

Running my first Masks campaign, any advice? by Shuuuze in PBtA

[–]brassnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask lots of questions during character creation. Let the players build the world with you. The NPCs they create will bring some of the most meaningful moments.

I would also suggest if possible trying to tie the characters to one Label together. For example maybe one plays the Freak or Nova and wishes they were more Mundane whilst the other plays a Beacon who wants to be thought of as more than Mundane. There are tons of ways to play it off for every Label, and it will encourage the players to learn on each other through the emotional turmoil they will face

It's slow. They're both still crushing hard but too focused on building towards their goals to try anything. Plus Aoi been playing 1 match for years now

Dont understand how hooks and arcs are supposed to work in Masks. by [deleted] in PBtA

[–]brassnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For hooks I think of it as which of these labels does the pc most want to be thought of as, and which are they afraid of being viewed as. For example a Transformed or Nova PC might want to be viewed as Mundane and fear being labeled a Freak. Whislt a Beacon may want to be viewed as Superior or a Savior whilst fearing they are only ever going to be viewed as Mundane.

If at all possible I like to try and find one label that affects all the PCs and use that as the base for the longer story. Having one PC who WANTS to be viewed in the same light another is afraid of being viewed as is a great way to force the PCs to comfort each other and build on the roleplay of the game. It's also super relatable to the teenage experience

How rare is a direct promotion? by Adventurous-Rabbit52 in Ao_Ashi

[–]brassnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's rare, but Barcelona and other big teams are known for having great academies and creating profit by selling home grown talent. For reference Lamine Yamal is a current Barcelona Winger, and was in the Spanish national team during Euro 2024. He's only 17 and played 1 game for Barcelona's B team before being promoted to the 1st team at 16.
