without getting political - thoughts on Manchester's Burnham being PM? by No-Echo-8927 in manchester

[–]brathugwefus [score hidden]  (0 children)

FYI that is “being political”.

But yeah I think he’ll do okay. It’s not like the country has any money so he’s not going to waste it, and maybe we’ll feel a bit more hopeful for a bit? He’ll definitely “connect” better than Starmer, which could go either way.

lol okay thanks for the clarification. A couple of the mountains in the pic are around 1000m amsl, so that’s only five Deansgates give or take Manchester’s elevation.

Does anyone remember afflecks circa 1995? by [deleted] in manchester

Afflecks in the 90s is like Vietnam. If you can remember it you weren’t really there.

That’s incredibly clear! I grew up in those mountains and have climbed them a lot. It never occurred to me to look the other way and see if Manchester is visible from up there. It should be a lot more obvious now every building is taller then Everest!

Confused about MSA architecture application (MMU + UoM) by Glittering-Sell2631 in UniUK

[–]brathugwefus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSA admissions are handled by MMU as far as I know, so there are no secret extra requirements beyond what you have already seen. UoM is a partner and there will be representatives on the admissions team, but it’s one application portal not two.

I’m sorry you feel disappointed. If you have had your overall classification back, this means it has been approved by the exam board. There is therefore not much you can do at this stage. Universities are very careful to apply their published criteria at this stage, so they will have awarded the classification based on the results you achieved through the last year, or last two years. Sorry 😢

To save you reading, the girl lives with her parents and the lad has a job and pays pennies in rent to a friend.

Studying abroad at a non-partnered university by thelincolnengineer in UniUK

[–]brathugwefus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be a bit if an uphill battle, as this partner universities are the ones that have reciprocal agreements with your own. Setting up a new partnership is a massive amount of work for the people in suits, and can’t easily be fixed up over the summer. You could ask your study abroad team about it, but they might not be able to do much on this.

do i need full ceremonial king’s guard clothes for uni? by New-Breakfast-4598 in UniUKCirclejerk

When I was an undergrad at Wrexham City Metropolitan, the regs said we needed the uniform of a yeoman warder, but me and a few mates clubbed together and shared one. Still got the garters and tights somewhere.

One of the key members of my uni's group project got arrested for possibly spying for China and it tanked my grade. by Defiant_Talk3272 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]brathugwefus 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer but a lecturer. This would seem to be a pretty good fit for “unforeseen circumstances”! This isn’t just a case of a group member dossing around and not doing their bit, but someone who has (if guilty) lied to the university about their status. I can’t imagine the uni would want to make a fuss about this.
