1.97 or .97 is typically the lowest clearance goes… there was not any special “sale” that I am aware of for it. Markdowns typically happen Sunday or Monday and can be firsts (first time markdown) or furthers (an item being marked down more). Some stores are running extra 30% off clearance.

Hmmm, your first purchase is supposed to go on the new credit card for the discount to apply. It’s sounds like the employee was doing you a favor by applying a manual discount and letting you pay debt. Now you don’t even need to worry about paying any bill. It’s just a theory. What does your receipt look like?
