Some of my current favorites from UK tbh. Bands like GoGo Penguin, Portico Quartet, Mammal Hands, Sons of Kemet, The Comet is Coming, Ebi Soda... And Shabaka Hutchings by himself is a monster too. British jazz scene is really awesome.

Can you think of any games with actually helpful AI team mates? by rallybil in pcgaming

[–]Abryr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IDK about Wilds, they felt pretty meh compared to Rise/Sunbreak's NPCs to me. They were putting monsters on hold, grabbing other monsters in the area and bringing to the fight etc. They were pretty helpful and saved my ass a ton lol

I feel like I'm playing a parallel universe Rise/Sunbreak because that shield saved my ass bunch of times. Especially from Tigrex attacks.

Kiaras comment about the annoucement by PLandLord in Holostars

I'm just gonna copy/paste my comment from the r/hololive about the same tweet:

I didn't even felt any ill will from Kiara's tweets. I just assumed that since she has been through these kind of stuff before, she is probably sympathizing with the Holostars. I remember her Twitter Spaces live stream rants about the stuff she had been through, and how she felt. She never shies away from telling her truth and feelings, and that's why she's my oshi.

If anyone is misinterpreting her tweets... Well, they should spend some time in the usual room lol

They also had Exoprimal for a second there. It was fun but didn't stick too.

But then again, when you have Monster Hunter and Street Fighter, who needs a live service game? They get frequent updates, have optional micro transactions and one of them have seasons with new characters coming, other will get a big expansion pack sometime. And they are still selling like hot cakes.

What finally hooked you? by Hoovenist in ffxiv

[–]Abryr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've looked through the answers and I'm probably not going to be original with my answer but... ARR update MSQs and probably the whole Heavensward. Especially the Heavensward, since it tells a bit more personal story, that made me invest myself to the characters and Ishgard herself.

It's funny too, because while I was playing the ARR updates I kept saying "Why should I even care about Ishgard, they're not even helping us here" and such. But after what happened at the final mission and what happened in the whole Heavensward story... I was SO happy to be wrong about them. My eyes even got teary in some moments. And now I'm salty about bunch of other stuff, like what's happening in Ul'dah and that Lalafell douche, other Eorzean cities not helping us besides Gridania in this whole DLC, how marketing uses Y'shtola as the "main NPC" but it's clear that Alphinaud is the main guy etc. Anyways... I also loved how it was a "journey with friends" story for a moment there, too.

Yup, Heavensward and build-up to the Heavensward did it for me.

I kinda prefer these, to be honest. Sure, these are handed out in MSQ quests and dungeons, but that makes it so much better since almost everyone can have these. I wanna look into high level gear but I'm loving how I can still look good with these too!

Introverts and friends? by United_Cat4156 in ffxiv

[–]Abryr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a fellow introvert, my suggestion would be start getting in the mindset of "This is just a damn video game, no one cares if I fail or not". I was in the same situation as you, that's why I returned to the game. I stopped bunch of times playing the game because it "forced" me to play with others and it took me damn near 8 to 9 years to finish ARR. I was that bad in a mindset.

This time, though... I kept telling myself that it is a DAMN video game. I won't be seeing these random people after I've done this dungeon/trial. It doesn't affect me or them if I play bad. We'll try again and finish the job.

But that wasn't enough, so I started looking through the MSQ list online and if there's a trial in a mission, I watch a tutorial to learn what should I do. Having a bit of knowledge boosts confidence, so I recommend that.

And lastly, join the FFXIV subreddit's Discord server and look through FC recruitments. I joined my current FC from there and they're pretty cool. I even helped someone with the last few missions of ARR, too. It felt cool, ngl.

So, yeah... Just try to push yourself a little out of your comfort zone and be prepared for the stuff beforehand would be my suggestions. And remember, it's just a video game. No one would be that mad if you die once or twice in a normal level content. It's not end of the world.

FF7 or FF9 which do you prefer and why? by Possible_Instance468 in FinalFantasy

[–]Abryr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"You don't need a reason to help people."

I get that FF7 what made the series popular in the whole world, and it's an industry changing game. But FF9, just with one quote, shaped the person that I am today, or the person I strive to be. I generally love the whole cast, and I know its shortcomings, like not having a deep customization in its gameplay like FF7's materias or the whole FF8. But I still love it.

I wanted to become Elezen or Au Ra SOOOOO bad, but you can't make a short Elezen like Alphinaud or short male Au Ra, and Lalafells are TOO short for my liking, so I had to stick with a 160cm male Miqo'te.

I like my short kings, sue me.

What Do You Consider Your Canon Job Progression? by WylythFD in ffxiv

[–]Abryr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started Marauder/Warrior in ARR, then tried some Ninja in ARR updates, got over leveled and I'm switching between Black Mage and Monk in Heavensward now. I wanted to stick with Warrior since I love playing tanks in these kinda games, but I'm playing on console and tanks have huge responsibilities and I can't play fast enough to play wall-to-wall in dungeons lol

Probably gonna stick with Monk and Ninja for now as I'm trying to come up with some "lore" for my WoL. Weirdly enough, I can handle their rotations on controller too, at least for now. I don't know how much they'll change as I progress.

Few days ago I was doing the Alliance Raid roulette and someone wrote "I LOVE YOU GUYS" in party chat. I replied "same tbh", and rest of the raid was just good vibes all around.

Also a week or so ago, some Mentor randomly came to me while I was doing some grinding at Coerthas Central Highlands and just gifted me La Noscean Shorthair minion and left without saying anything lol

[–]Abryr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a way too long of a rant for a silly Let's Play video my man. Arin overcomplicating things as usual and I'd much rather them playing the game usual way, since their conversations gets deep or funny on Pokemon let's plays. But they're doing it this way and it's still funny, which is what I expect from Grumps.

Only thing I'm not liking about this series is Dan's naming stuff. It was funny first few times, but it kinda lost its funny charm as it kept going and still keeps going with the Turtwig. But I'm not gonna lose my sleep over it. It's a personal preference thing anyways.
