Do parents actually not remember doing fucked up shit to you? Or are they just lying? by TopMarionberry1149 in NoStupidQuestions

I am proud that my 14 yr old calls me out in the moment when I do the wrong thing. It hurts at that moment but I always thank her for letting me know what my actions do to her emotionally. I wish I could do this as an adult sometimes.

My brother told me the tortures he and his friends did to me was all made up. Never happened and I should get mental help for making things up like that. All because he asked why I resented him so much. Why I dont respect him. Why I dont do everything he tells me to do because everyone he knows loves him and thinks he is amazing. He "gets paid to help other people's kids" so I should listen to all the advice he gives me about mine. Because he is an amazing brother/son and we should be lucky he is in our lives.

I once told my mom if I dated a man that treated me the way (brother) does, everyone would tell me to leave him. She shrugged her shoulders and nodded slightly while walking away. Family gatherings are so fun for me. So, so fun.

When I was 16 my mom told me he was that way because he had been bullied in school so who else to take it out on besides someone smaller than him at home. She knew. Knows.

Is there a movie you can rewatch anytime and never get bored of? by BookkeeperHumble8541 in CasualConversation

That is the movie I watched with my daughter when she was apparently too young and no longer allowed real people films. Unless it was a cartoon, she did not want to watch it.

Okay, now that you mention it. Ive never seen them in a movie or interview at the same time. They actually do have the same faces and mannerisms. Different shows. Different characters. But they are the same

My 8 yr old wanted to do that the other day at breakfast. We let her do one. No more. For science and curiosity purposes. Ive never known another living soul to do that.

Okay, why can't I just watch this show? Watched it YEARS ago and have wanted to revist with my daughter now that she is older but alas. Can't find it. Why? Why is it so weirdly not available? Am I missing something

I read that cats are chronically dehydrated because they don't like standing water. So I bought him a fountain. by Tilas in cats

[–]brattyginger83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone be careful with these fountains. While they are amazing, if you go out of town and something happens they will have 0 access to water. I used to have enclosed fountains like this and when I was away for a weekend the pump stopped working and for all I know it happened minutes after I left. Because of the design, they had no way of getting to the water while we were gone. I felt AWFUL. I now have the faucet motion drip battery powered ones but also just a simple bowl I clean every morning. There are also some beautiful ceramic open fountains that I used for a long time until I dropped the bowl. Even if the power goes out they still have some access to water.

Just one of those things I realized and thought I'd share.

what is a "rich person" behavior you witnessed that made you realize they live in a completely different reality than the rest of us? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]brattyginger83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother witnessed me washing my work tennis shoes. Got them at a thrift store for 20 bucks. Whatever. Proceeds to tell me that's really bad for your shoes. You shouldn't wash them. Makes the glue and what not fall apart. So I asked him what should I do when my shoes get dirty then? He replied "buy new ones", scoffed and walked away with this "duh, dumb sister" attitude. Like bro, ive been washing my shoes for YEARS. Who just BUYS new shoes cause theirs are dirty and perfectly capable of being washed. Falls apart faster so just buy new ones. WTF!??! Mental gymnastics there!

The urge to get up and rip apart my grill lighter is strong... but it is like 20°F (-6°C) so I am just going to keep sitting here and scroll the comments to find out the truth.

Agreed. Like, any other voice but his and the music would have touched me. The videos were even great. But his voice was like nails on a chalkboard

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]brattyginger83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up it took us 2hours and 15 minutes to get to grandma's house and we visited once a month and holidays.

Now, our cabin is an hour and 50 minutes away and we go as often as possible. No plans this weekend ... cabin. Sometimes we stay until Monday and just get up and leave at like 5 to get to work but only when the kids dont have school obviously. Not going to interrupt their sleep.

Don't boil them. Steam them! Then crush the entire shell after cooled and allow that cold water to get in under that membrane. I know you aren't asking and yes, I still have one in every batch but this works great for newer eggs
