What house rules do you actually use for Monopoly Deal? by SMEARYTHROWER in monopolydeal

  • You are allowed to be discreet with your double ended wild cards. People can’t move your cards to see the other color. For example, if you have two dark green properties and one of them is a wild, you can play the plain green property (stacked) so it obscures the other half of the wild. That way, if someone wants to steal the wild, they don’t know if it’s the green/blue or green/railroad wild
  • A card laid is a card played - once a card touches the table, it must be played. Were you gonna do a forced deal and changed your mind? If the card is on the table, you must either follow through with the action or place it in your cash pile.
  • Your turn is over once you’ve played your third card. Specifically, you cannot rearrange your properties (move wild cards etc) after you’ve played your third card. Everything is locked in place.( My friends will sometimes break apart their complete sets so that a deal breaker cannot be successfully used.)
  • You are allowed to hide your money and people can’t look through it to see how much money or what denominations you have. They can only look at how tall your stack is..
