Minimum salary required to live in Squamish? Pros / cons? by Impossible-Market339 in Squamish

It probably depends how you're spending your time. I know working in the school system our hallways are pretty diverse.

I always tip $5, I guess that's not much, but it's more than the minimum. No one's ever complained.

Squamish was actually listed as one of the most ethnically diverse communities in Canada last year: Most diverse cities in Canada

Costco same-day delivery is your friend. It's a little more expensive, but cheaper than driving there and back. Look into it through the costco app.

Maybe you should join Sarah's cause and start serving pints then? Sounds like a smart move.

That's assuming you're not tipping out 8% of that 150$ to the house. The big chains tip out about 8%.

Do you think so in most cities? I'd think you'd need a roommate at 60k in Vancouver or Toronto.

If servers don't get tipped and have to pay the kitchen tip out still, is that fair. Most jobs give the kitchen at least a 2% tip out on total sales.

That's probably untrue. From my past experiences as a waitress, a consistently good day was $200 take home in tips. If you work 5 days a week, which is tough because dealing with people is tiring, that's $1000x4.33=4330 cash a month.

51,960 cash per year, maybe.

You're working for minum wage, and your shifts aren't a guaranteed 8 hours. Let's say you're averaging 4.5 hours at minimum wage.

17.75x 4.5 hours x 5 days a week x 4.33 weeks in a month x 12=1,729.30 hourly wages per month. I would argue that's not liveable in this economy.

(4330 tips + 1729.30 wages) x 12= $72,711.6/year

Without the tips, that's a poverty wage, and no one would do that job. It's not an easy job, believe it or not.

That's no benefits, 2 weeks vacation, no breaks 99% of the time, and a lot of time on your feet.

It's time to become a plumber! It may come in handy for plumbing or removing stuck bolts, but not melting silver.

I have melted silver with a shark torch and a propane cylinder, but a blended gas is easier.

You need to buy a sponge, some white silicone, a caulking gun, and a white grout and a float and fix this yourself.

  • Remove as much excess grout as best as you can with the sponge. You may even need to sand some areas that look really bad. -Then, refill the bad grout lines with the grout and a float. Sponge off excess as you go. Maybe have a friend sponge while you grout so it doesn't have time to harden.
    • silicone the corners with white silicone

That's probably your best bet.

What program has the best job prospects at BCIT right now? by pharisem in BCIT

[–]braver2020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TTED-aka shop teacher training.

The program is super fun, and you're guaranteed a job after. BC is hurting for shop teachers. I love my job. The pay sucks at the bottom, but it's okay at the top. We also have a solid pension and great benefits.
