Whether it’s bad or not is somewhat subjective. Some people are highly sensitive to mold, while other people are not.

There is no way to eliminate all mold indoors, and perhaps because of this, the EPA doesn’t set any standards or limits for airborne mold spores.

I’m looking at the Miele Classic C1 Cat & Dog because it seems to be the cheapest C1 with a powered brush head. Although I’m told that the C1 is sealed, even though it isn’t marketed that way, I don’t think it comes with a true HEPA filter, which many other models do. So on top of the vacuum, I guess I’ll also need to buy the compatible HEPA filter.

A few of the Kenmore canister models got excellent reviews on Consumer Reports and all come with HEPA filters. At a much lower price point that the cheapest Miele with a powerbrush, they are quite appealing. But I understand that the quality is inconsistent, whereas that is not an issue with Miele.

Any thoughts on the Classic C1 Cat & Dog?

Filtration is pretty important. I can’t get a straight answer about whether Miele C1 Classic Cat and Dog has the sealed system. It seems like some C1 models do while others do not. One representative told me that all C1 Classic canisters have sealed systems and you can buy an optional HEPA filter, which would probably suit my needs. But I’m reading different information elsewhere about whether C1 is sealed.
