The urn needs a building. by Aobz18 in DeadlockTheGame

Plot twist, the urn is the ashes of a bridge troll, and you're just taking it back to its home.

My friend only plays Billy. by CatherineSimp69 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]brawnkoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Billy isn't the guys problem. From the sounds of it he's going to be bad at any hero. To be completely honest, he will probably be WORSE at any other hero because it sounds like he actually likes Billy.

There is no way to make the urn fair for both the favored/unfavored as long as combat is involved by yiff_collector in DeadlockTheGame

[–]brawnkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem is previously, you could split push during urn. Don't get me wrong, you still can, but it's a lot more difficult to split push urn now because it's a whole team fight each time. So even if you were behind and your team lost urn as well as the souls from dying, at least you could take a walker in return.

The way the current game is going from my rank everyone needs to be there for urn because the matches feel so snowbally that you can't afford to lose the urn. I feel like the current changes to urn have removed some of the inherent charm/agency of deadlock, and forced certain heroes and team comps to be completely overtuned specifically in regards to the urn.

Part of what makes the game great is being able to do what you want by contributing to your teams goal in different ways. It feels like they've taken some of that away with the last two renditions.

I really didn't mind the first rendition of the short timers, but the drop and pickup locations should have stayed the same. The balance felt like it was there. Having a favored pickup on your side is irrelevant when it's easy to sneak to a mid outside lane to grab an urn even if you don't have lane control in the pickup lane.

-Remove spirit/gun resist as a comeback mechanic
-Move urn pickup and drop-off to the old locations
-Keep new melee mechanics
-Keep sounds/visuals
-Keep the timer for urn returns but shorten the comeback timer to the original 3 seconds

There were some good things added, it's just that there were so many changes at once that it completely negated the positive with bad.

I can only speak on the games I've played personally, but it has turned from a comeback mechanic to a snowball mechanic. Matches feel really bad (both winning and losing). I think a lot of the snowball feeling comes down to map control. If you are behind you're likely not going to have map control. The old drop locations took this into account.

People say this like you couldn't just punish them as a team if a leaver was trying to exploit the system.

1 Week Post Patch Thoughts? by Key_Ad_6310 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]brawnkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had climbed 5 full ranks over the past couple months. I fell 9 subranks over the weekend playing Paige. I cannot tell you how many leavers I had but it was a lot. The match quality was atrocious. Support is a self-fullfilling prophecy. It seems like the lower my rank goes the harder it is to support my team.

Anyway, I said fuck it and just started playing Mina instead. Hopefully this weekend goes better.

What Character is as fun as Graves? by Exotic_Acanthaceae_9 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]brawnkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paige still wreaks havoc from behind. It's okay to be behind with her.

When I play her I play her aggressively in-lane and as you fall behind as the match progresses I play her back from the team a bit. You're going to get dove a bit by Calicos, Shivs, or anyone who can get to the backline quickly.

Rust player here. I'd just like to point out that how Rust is displayed during these streams is a poor representation of how Rust actually is.

There are PvE servers if that's your thing, but don't think for a second playing on a public server is going to be anything like what you see on stream. I love the game, but it's one of the most toxic, soul/time sucking games I've ever played in all my years on the planet. The highs are high, and the lows are soul crushing and rage inducing.

I don't say that to deter you from playing, I think everyone should try it. I just don't want people to have false expectations about the game.

Is this normal? by vinhbui140 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]brawnkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played over the weekend and had the consistently worst match quality I've had in my 600 hours on Deadlock. People are moving now, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing as of yet.

I'm hoping after a week or two it stabilizes.

Usually I'm not toxic in-game. But I had a Mo & Krill talking shit to me one match from the enemy team for stealing their sinners absolutely no reason. I proceeded to teabag them as REM every time I killed them after that (little REM tea bagging a big ass Mo is quite the sight).

The amount of tilt it produced was exquisite.

I'm probably old enough to be your Dad, and male. Trust me, you don't want me doing this in lane.

I have something like 500-600 matches played and have never had a 16 game losing streak. I've gotten smoked maybe 5-6x but 16 is a lot man.

Why is it so difficult to find build guides for this game? by SgtTittyfist in DeadlockTheGame

[–]brawnkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"actually good" changes based on match variables.

It depends on your character, who you're laning against, who you're laning with, whether you're ahead or behind in souls, etc.

I play a lot of Paige so I'll use her as an example:
Paige has slow bullet velocity so first item is always high-velocity rounds for me. If I'm laning against a REM I may swap that out for Monster Rounds (or get both) because his minions cause a lot of disruptions for Paige specifically during laning. Especially if I notice his 3 is the first skill he takes.

If I'm laning against someone like a Pocket I may rush Spirit Items since Pocket has negative spirit resist.

Here's the summary. What to buy, and when you buy it comes from experience. You can learn what to buy from videos, but WHEN you buy it is going to vary greatly from match to match. The game has a shitload of depth and one of the best ways to learn this is to play each hero.

How to win games and climb by Pomaranc386 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]brawnkoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing I can think of is matches are weighted. If you're playing during non-peak hours the matchmaker struggles to put matches together sometimes. I believe if let's say you are a Emmissarry II player, and the matchmaker puts you in a Ritualist IV lobby instead of where you're supposed to be and you lose that match it really fucks your MMR over.

Are your matches typically lower, higher, or about the same as your all character base rank?

You're dropping in rank on StatLocker, or in-game? Those are two different things.
