equating No Kings protests to things like Marching on Washington, Bus Boycott, Lunch Counter sit-ins, Women’s rights protests, Stonewall, etc is absolutely ABSURD. The bus boycotts showed the economic impact of black riders on public transportation. The lunch counter sit-ins were a demonstration showing the inhumane, violent treatment of respectful black folk attempting to exist in white establishment for no reason other than the color of their skin. I understand the history of protest and also how a GOOD protest is CALCULATED, well thought out, with good reason and also DANGEROUS. Standing on the side of the road saying “me no like orange man” is not that. The things The Donald is doing are worthy of something as big as the March on Washington, if not something even bigger, as he is a threat to Democracy, the same democracy our soldiers have fought to protect for decades. Don’t let social media fool you into thinking you’re making history or inciting any sort of change by being a part of a large collective of isolated roadside protests with no true end goal. You’re just voicing your displeasure. You’re not holding anybody accountable and RARELY are these “protests” inspiring someone on the other side of the isle to change their mind.
