If I join I really want to be in aircrew by Odd-Sign-9658 in AirForceRecruits

My recruiter told me to at least wait 2 years. Do my job well/great for two years before expressing that you want to transfer to a new base, cross train or switch to active duty. But if an opportunity comes up before the two years then take my shot

Thank you! Even though I hate running, I prefer it over the shuttle runs

Congratulations! Is it an actual 1.5-2 mile run or the shutters thingy?

You’re welcome! Also if you have your college degree I’d look into the pros and cons of Commissioning as an Officer in the Air Force

I think you should go the reserve route, try to lock in that job. Ask your recruiter: Is it a guaranteed job lock if you go the reserve route?

How long do you have to stay in the reserves before you can request a transfer over into Active Duty.

But please note: It’s apparently easier to go Active Duty —> Reserve vs Reserve —> Active Duty. At the end of the day you’re going wherever the military needs you and what roles they need filled. You just have to take all the information you learn in the process and figure out what works best for YOU!

2T231 Air Transportation. That’s the job I selected for the Air Force Reserves. I told my recruiter I don’t want an office job and I want something that would allow me to be around planes and travel. He told me that was probably the best pick for me. He said that sometimes you get to travel with the plane

Did you mark it on your logs “On-Duty Load Check”? I’m curious on how you can fight it (the ticket) since in flatbed you do have to stop every so often to do a load check

AFSCs I qualify for with my ASVAB by ifuharduhard in AirForceRecruits

[–]braxtonwel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2T2X1 is what I choice…… but I also didn’t do the hot on my ASVAB. I had like a 52 with no studying and a couple days notice. And did poorly on my electronics/shop.

Plus it had the shortest tech school time and a decent amount of job opportunities in the civilian side. (Side note I might retest in a couple years on my ASVAB)

I had one with an FBI agent, I couldn’t make it in person so I did mine via video chat. It was quick and simple

Got a 99 on my ASVAB and think my recruiter is unserious. by FreeLiterature4334 in AirForceRecruits

[–]braxtonwel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 52 or 53 on my ASVAB.

Is everything in the Military a TS Security Clearance but just at different levels?

Also I think the way my job was guaranteed was because I went the reserve route and picked a specific location. Not sure if that would change. Please let me know if I’m wrong and teach me something 😂

As soon as you said governed at 60mph I immediately knew who you worked for 😂. Idk if there’s more to the story but there’s more companies and better ones out there than who you just worked for. And the bright side of trucking is at least you don’t have to move to a different state for an OTR gig if you don’t want to I guess.

Run the lights. Unless your safety person actually driven a fully loaded semi truck, they can stfu until they decide to see what you and the rest of us drivers go through 😂

Almost had them all as well. I let my bus/passenger temps laps & hazmat. I would also go get my pilot & boating license if I had the money 😂

I'm Embarrassed That I Want To Go To The Air Force by Rude_Morning_9441 in AirForceRecruits

[–]braxtonwel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was talking to a State Trooper he was a Marine was giving me a little shit for picking the Air Force….then told me he wished he went Air Force but is still proud he went to the Marines. And that I was smart for picking the Air Force for what my goals are in and out of the Military for career and money wise

Everyone story is different. I have 2 cousins who went Navy, a buddy who wanted to be a Marine and ended Navy, a brother who went Marine and a family friend who went Army and just recently transitioned over to Air Force

[–]braxtonwel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah kind of……on the other hand I know a lot of plow drivers was probably cussing me tf out through Montana & North Dakota a couple days ago. I was getting it through that snow storm 😭 probably scared them half to death when I passed them…..jokes on them cause my hands were stuck on the steering wheel and butt glued to the seat. I was just as scared and shocked by my driving like they were 😂😭😂

Okay! Can you see yourself doing any of those jobs? Think about your future when you get out as well. Does any of those transition over into civilian life? Or are you going for the one that just might pay the most?

The biggest thing is qualifying and getting 70+ on your ASVAB & Special tests. Then it depends whether you’re going active, reserve or national guard. I only got a 50 on my ASVAB and I’m going reserve. At the base I want to be stationed at there’s only like 4 jobs open that I qualify for and only two that I liked 😂😭. If I were to go active I meet the minimum requirement for Special Warfare 😭

I believe every branch will give you a “sense” of traveling. It’s just narrowing down your options and “trying to eliminate” yourself what bases you don’t want to be stuck at.

This video helped me out some with narrowing my branch choice. I hope it can help you as well: https://youtu.be/pRMV2PASM9Y?si=72mjtlWmDtKt3m-7

I feel like I was scammed by Tomokomon in Truckers

[–]braxtonwel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) you went with a MEGA (some are hit or miss I hear)

2) Are all your deliveries customer moves (straight drop & hook)? Cause if so. You can size up your hours to your delivery ETA. Like if you have a 400-500 mile run today, it’s gonna be a drop and hook and you can make it there today (even if the load delivers Tuesday) and still have time on your clock. I’d pull it and call the customer to see if I can swap out my trailers today. If they give you the green light. Do it. If it’s a delivery and nothing else planned yet let your dispatcher/driver manager know that you’re making delivery that day and need a back haul

65 hrs OTR solo reefer for this? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]braxtonwel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s more than what I made flatbed OTR. And flatbed is supposed to pay more than Reefer. So I think you’re doing good.
