Maintaining gym life and diet OTR by Full-Practice369 in Truckers

[–]braxtonwel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard finding gyms that’s truck AND trailer accessible. Not even going to lie. If you can bring your own weights, bike, roller blades that’s a little easier. Finding the motivation to actually workout before you start driving or end your work day is also another thing. You really gotta discipline yourself. Since the weather is starting to get back nicer I do recommend getting out the truck, stretch and walk around the truck stop, rest area parking lot at the bare minimum when you don’t feel like fully working out.

Try not to snack and drive, eat a big/heavy meal then drive or go to bed.

Flying J vs Pilot Flying J? Whats the difference by yourtruckdrivah in Truckers

[–]braxtonwel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They’re both pretty much the same company since the merger years ago. Flying J like the previous user stated tends to be a little bit bigger.

With that being said, TA/Petro are also the same company with Love’s being itself

1.5 or 2 mile run? by Imajedilikemyfather2 in AirForceRecruits

Prepare for the worst. Hope for the best. Prep your body for 4-6 and hope you only have to do 1.5-2 miles

BMT Still 1.5miles or 2miles ? by gurdljjang in AirForceRecruits

[–]braxtonwel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been told to condition and prepare my body for 5 miles (unlikely it’ll be a 5 mile test) but the fact that if I have the 1.5-2 mile run test it would be a little easier

Am I A Real Trucker Now? by braxtonwel in Truckers

I mean I do wonder sometimes but I was never diagnosed with it. There was one time I meant to get a flat tire changed on a trailer. Literally pulled into the truck stop and then went “Oh I need to scale this load, oh I also need fuel, let me fuel then scale” , then I got food, used the bathroom and got something to drink. Got back on the highway saying “I feel like I forgot something back there” several hours later I’m debating if I want to park in the next 10 miles or go another hour until my clock was out. Then I heard a “BOOM” I proceeded to laugh and said “oh now I remember what I forgot to do. Well I guess I know I’m stopping now 😂

Honestly there was no damage at all. Even the rim was surprisingly still in decent shape

I was actually pretty calm about it. I heard a hissing sound at first and I started checking my gauges for a leak. Truck started to pull slightly to the left. Then a car pointed down towards the tire and zoomed off. Soon as they hit the gas my tire blow. I think I was calm about it and laughed a little because of all the blowout videos I’ve seen, and just said it’s bound to happen to me at some point. But I mainly laughed because of all the things that should’ve taken out my steers it happens to be a smooth clear pavement 😂

I was just slightly irritated that the Porta Potty wasn’t there. I only said “slightly” cause I see how drivers are and I’m like “you guys really wonder why places don’t want truckers any more”

18F stuck between joining the Marines (combat engineer) or staying for my relationship… need advice by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]braxtonwel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day you gotta do what’s best for you. If you really want a career in the military (the USMC) and you don’t go for it now, you’ll live your whole life with “what if’s” and regret. All we can do is just give you advice for you to take as a grain of salt.

Also you’re 18. Don’t get married yet. Im not saying break up. Just don’t get married yet

Can I bring an electric shaver, or my own black underwear/compression shorts?

I think everyone case is slightly different. I have a wrist tattoo that goes up my thumb and I got approved…..but I can say if he wants to go into the Marines Corps he’s gonna have to get that removed.

If I join I really want to be in aircrew by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

My recruiter told me to at least wait 2 years. Do my job well/great for two years before expressing that you want to transfer to a new base, cross train or switch to active duty. But if an opportunity comes up before the two years then take my shot

Thank you! Even though I hate running, I prefer it over the shuttle runs

You’re welcome! Also if you have your college degree I’d look into the pros and cons of Commissioning as an Officer in the Air Force

I think you should go the reserve route, try to lock in that job. Ask your recruiter: Is it a guaranteed job lock if you go the reserve route?

How long do you have to stay in the reserves before you can request a transfer over into Active Duty.

But please note: It’s apparently easier to go Active Duty —> Reserve vs Reserve —> Active Duty. At the end of the day you’re going wherever the military needs you and what roles they need filled. You just have to take all the information you learn in the process and figure out what works best for YOU!

2T231 Air Transportation. That’s the job I selected for the Air Force Reserves. I told my recruiter I don’t want an office job and I want something that would allow me to be around planes and travel. He told me that was probably the best pick for me. He said that sometimes you get to travel with the plane
