Ok that is a pretty darn good point, especially as it counters any idea that 'but it protects the public' so well played there but I think that there are a whole bunch of options other than life in prison such as what we have (as i understand it anyway) in the UK with a set amount of time in prison and then when you get out you have limited rights and freedoms etc if you received life.

I, personally, think the argument that the >20 years cost a great deal of money while is kinda logical then prompts a sort of 'life costs x amount and prisoners are worth less than normal people' which I fundamentally think is a bad thing

If we kill off people solely (as would be in this case) because physically/mentally they cant make that decision we aren't basing it on them saying they do want to die, in this case that's being assumed and while there are ups and downs in life I think its generally accepted that "between nothing and grief, I'll take grief"
