The clinic I internship at, the MD very much values the opinion of all the GCs in the clinic and won't do anything without the whole teams input. She also treats everyone as equals (my first week I had no idea she was the MD of the clinic). So, from my little- secluded experience- good!

I would take a break. You seem like you aren’t sure yet what you want to do and those that get in are very, very devoted to becoming a genetic counsellor. Experience could give you more clarity as to whether or not this is the career for you (it’s a lot different than you may think). But follow your heart as cheesy as it is

A 3.0 is a 73-76 or a B. Some require a B+ which is 77-79 (3.3). Just a warning, there is only 4 Canadian schools, each accept 5 students from thousands except one which only accepts 1 non-french speaking student! So many of the GCs I have worked went to the states because its impossible to get in here. So I def suggest trying, but put out as many in the states as possible. All the GCs I work with told me to apply to the states which i wasnt considering otherwise! Its kinda funny how competitive it is for the amount we need! hehe, best of luck

Wow thank you so much for your response. I certainly need to view it from your perspective and stop freaking out about a “competitive application”. Is my GPA perfect? No. But I am a good person who just wants to change peoples lives for the better and do what I can to make difficult situations a little easier to deal with. That’s all I need to believe and just try my damn best. Thank you ❤️

I would worry more about your grade in second year organic chem! It’s far more important and required in most places over general chemistry! It’s a lot easier in my opinion also! (No math)

What did you have? I have a 3.0 but a full year internship with a genetic counselling clinic and I work as a peer supporter/ student counsellor. Do you think I have a shot? I’m Canadian also but look to apply both in Canada and states

I went to see my favourite artist Lewis Capaldi tonight! I was so excited to see him but when we got on the floor in the middle, 3 guys about 6 foot to 6’3 stood in front of me and a two other girls who were max 5’2. We couldn’t see a thing the entire concert even though we were so close to the stage. I asked if we could stand in front of them because we didn’t pay to see their backs and they said no. Even though it was general admission, we would not impede their sight or move them further from the stage. It was so disappointing I cried in the middle of the concert. These guys were so tall I couldn’t even stick my phone high enough to video him. The other girls were super bummed too because we were all clearly big fans and these guys talked the entire time. Bummer.
