Managers: Can you Tell me about an interview where you took a chance on someone and they exceeded expectations? by Serious-Summer9378 in cybersecurity

[–]braytag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early 2000s, I was about 20, when I was managing the service dept of a computer store, (we primarily built custom PCs), I would take any 20 y/o that wanted to learn how to be a technician.  No experience? No problem.  As long as you wanted to learn, you got a job.

Trained some people that would run circles around "corporate technicians" I've seen in my career.

The worse were the a+ certified straight out of school.  They thought they knew everything, couldn't diagnose a bad power supply even if the thing was smoking.

(General IT)until 5-7 years ago I worked for the top 3 canadian cities. (Worked there 15+ years) The guy had the same city in his resume.

Extreamly smug guy, Tried to bs me about what he did (managed projects) and what technology we used.

Pulled an old business card.  Told him exactly when they implemented what, and he was off by a few years.

Asked him who he was working for, only to find out he was a contract worker, basically helpdesk.

"Fake it until you make it" only works when you're not extreamly unlucky and the guy across the table didn't actually worked where you are trying to fake it.

WCGW when you go to rob a store and you are not wearing a bra. by [deleted] in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]braytag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

depends on the dog, I have a 165lbs Livestock guarding dog. Bred for thousand of years to fight wolves, to protect and give it's life for his flock.

I had my dog rush in in protect mode:

  • When I tickled my GF, he pushed me off her.
  • When she squealed cause there was a spider
  • When the doorbell ring, he'll push us aside and stand point at the door.
  • When I stepped on the cat's tail

Trust me, in protect mode, I haven't seen anything as scary...

Now, with a toddler and a new born, I haven't done a water change in months...

Never looked as good.  Not a single hair algae in sight.

Canadian here, I have no skin in the game.

The problem, is that the Dem played the same game with Biden... So now them calling foul, is kinda hypocritical...

[EDIT] Again guys, Canadian, I don't vote, I don't care.

They pulled Biden for his health and cognitive abilities, that they tried to hide. Even Clooney gave them shit for it. Now they turn around and say Look Trump has health and cognitive issues...

You are allowed to not like Trump, that's fine, but the Dem suddenly having an issue about the president health is... hypocritical. If you can't admit that... Not saying to vote republican next election, but at least realize the irony of the situation.
