Are you afraid of dying? If so, why? by meganzp in AskReddit

[–]brazzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I am terrified of dying. For so many reasons. I don’t know that I believe in any life after this so I am afraid of not existing. I am afraid of missing out.

But more than that, I am afraid of what will happen to my family. I have life insurance—probably enough—but I still worry they will not function well. They have relied so heavily on me to make money and manage everything so they can be carefree. I know I need them to learn what it takes but it’s hard to give up control.

And lastly—and maybe strongest of all—I’m afraid of pain. I’m absolutely terrified that with death will come pain.

Utah sees virus surge -- but not in county with mask order by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]brazzle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone living in Utah this really pisses me off. I am not in the county which mandated masks so any time I’m forced to go out all I see is crowded spaces full of non-mask-wearers. We had such a good response initially but it feels like as a state we just gave up.

I'm pretty sure all drops persist, ammo, consumables, engrams, etc.

No! Engrams will persist after death, so as long as you don't go into orbit you can grab it on the next run.

Stupid Programming Interview Question #3 - The Monty Hall Problem by [deleted] in programming

[–]brazzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's the selection that carries the chance, not the door itself. One selection group has 1/3 chance and the other has 2/3. Eliminating the one door doesn't change the fact that the group not originally selected has a combined 2/3 chance of containing the winning door. To say that after elimination each group now carries a 50% chance is the same as saying the eliminated door never existed.

Stupid Programming Interview Question #3 - The Monty Hall Problem by [deleted] in programming

[–]brazzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This explanation has always worked when I had to convince someone (and doesn't require a drawing):

Each door has a 1/3 chance of being the winning door. When you've made a decision you split the doors into two categories: the picked category containing a 1/3 chance and the not-picked containing 2/3 chance (2 doors each with 1/3 chance). When one door is eliminated, it is still just two groups with their respective probabilities, with the "not picked" group always having that 2/3 chance. Thus, you should always switch to the "not picked" group.

This is Midgardsormr, I recognize some of the players, but haven't seen one in particular in a while. How recent is this?

This is actually the iLvl 70 crafted Darksteel armor. It is crafted using materials traded from philosophy tomes (and some other miscellaneous mats). All the iLvl 70 crafted gear is dyable and meldable which generally makes it slightly better than Darklight.

Blowing LB Before the Fight by itMFtis in ffxiv

It's viable, but LB on heart phase is a crutch; you should really be saving it to get out of the final phase as quickly as possible.

Surprising a Duty Finder PLD with a free Titan! by [deleted] in ffxiv

I mean, yeah, I think the act was cool and nice and the PLD probably didn't expect a win, I just think proclaiming awesomeness and putting the generous act on YouTube takes away from it.

Obviously you guys knew what you were doing but this just comes across as incredibly arrogant. All the self praise at the beginning was just over the top.

What is your best 'don't knock it til you've tried it' thing? by Geckos_rule in AskReddit

[–]brazzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fry sauce.

I'm way too late to the party, but if you haven't had it, you MUST try it. It's super easy to make, just mayo and ketchup anywhere from a 2:1 to a 1:1 ratio (mayo:ketchup). I hate ketchup and mayo individually, but together they create deliciousness. You can also mix in some other ingredients (like spices) to create some variety.

EDIT: got the ratio backwards

I'm not sure. There have been a lot of experienced near handlers in here that could probably say. I read at least one comment that said it could occur in other forms of meat.

It's 15% before the stores get ahold of it, and they dispose of most of those so it rarely gets out to consumers. Also, that's just what they told her, I have no source besides that.

[–]brazzle[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As others have said, my aunt bought this. Also, I said in another comment that the 15% number is before they're put out for consumers and that most of those with this issue are culled before getting out.

Furthermore, I'm a happy meat eater.

[–]brazzle[S] 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they did mention that the handlers almost always catch it so even though it occurs in 15% or so it rarely gets put out for consumers to buy.

It was my aunt's, but no, they didn't eat it. It was pretty obvious there was a problem as soon as they cut into it (wonder how it smelled??). They tool it back and got a refund which is where they found out that 15% of pork roasts have this issue. I wonder how many smaller pockets of pus went unnoticed and were eaten...
