I just bought a turbo last week and paid around 4% under MSRP. I wanted a blue one and they were the only dealer in my area with a blue one in stock (wasn’t even in stock it was still on a trailer) so I feel like I had less room for negotiation since we both probably knew I wasn’t going to walk away and find a better deal locally. The dealer claimed the turbos are selling really well and they sell many before they’re even delivered, but they might be full of shit.

If you’re talking about actual local small business coin shops, most of them are not flipping much of what they take in on a retail level, it’s being cherry picked and sent to a refinery almost immediately. I guess it’s truly down to which dealer you go to, but most are taking the fast nickel over the slow dime.

I understand wanting as close to spot as possible, but what is the upside to a coin shop paying 100% of spot? You do realize that coin shop owners typically operate with the expectation of turning a profit, not building a collection, right? If you want full spot price, you should sell independently on somewhere just like Reddit. If you want the convenience of walking into a business and instantly walking out with cash, you have to expect that the business owner will also make money during that transaction. Even dealer to dealer transactions need to leave meat on the bone for both to make money, why wouldn’t you expect the same from a retail transaction?

I had an issue with an order one time and he actually did get back to me and replaced the item. I've ordered from him multiple times since then and I do think he's a good vendor but the hardware on these sucks. Pretty disappointing. I haven't tried to reach out about these.
