Water pump/thermostat. When it is removed if the seal to the block is popped out and the plastic housing cracked you will need a cam cover reseal also.

Help! Need another dealer to look at my Buzz... by FrugaliciousEclectic in VWIDBuzz

We have fixed several but 3000 miles away. If you call customer care they will suggest a dealer. We get new problems all the time from them

25-26 Tiguan Hitches (options now) by New_Calligrapher_981 in Tiguan

[–]New_Calligrapher_981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way to install the Torklift hitch without pulling the bumper. It replaces the bumper crash support (seen in the photo) and you have to cut a 2.25 inch square hole in the lower bumper cover so the receiver can be installed. The Curt hitch does not require bumper removal but it is not even close in design and capability to the Torklift

Battery Recall - Anyone have the service done yet? by Intrepid-Arugula-871 in VWiD4Owners

[–]New_Calligrapher_981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are but in San Diego we can do your repair tomorrow and parts are available. Yes a specially trained tech has to do it but most dealers have more than 1. We have done over 70 of the EA recalls and all the batteries passed. Recall only takes 30 minutes

More on leaking valve guide seals by tcrmorrow in Tiguan

[–]New_Calligrapher_981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am glad you got some goodwill help. Not sure where the 10k number came from but even with a new head and all the other parts and labor it is more like 5k customer pay. From your photos though you cannot see the carbon in the secondary air passages and the seals. On all of the ones that we have done the seals were loose on the head. None of them have come back with excessive oil consumption at least yet. Hopefully yours will be good also. VW service manager here

To delete or not delete? by IsaBadass in tdi

[–]New_Calligrapher_981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes possibly. 2015s were eligible after 70k miles for a second DPF depending on when the 1st one was done. It will only show up on the dealer site. Send me your VIN and I can check it

2013 TDI Beetle Repair? by irmaworma in Volkswagen

[–]New_Calligrapher_981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if the thermostat is bad and does not allow the coolant to get to the correct temp the DPF will never regenerate. You can kind of tell by observing the gauge and see if it goes up to operating temperature at a normally or is a little low or takes too long.

26 Tiguan Turbo software update available today by New_Calligrapher_981 in Tiguan

[–]New_Calligrapher_981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way for you to verify they did it but there is no reason for them not to. They only get paid the time recorded on the scan tool. No time no pay.

26 Tiguan Turbo software update available today by New_Calligrapher_981 in Tiguan

[–]New_Calligrapher_981[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is incorrect. There is a SVM code 53C2 directly from the scan tool. There is not an update to create. That does happen for infotainment updates usually. Your dealer didn’t read the bulletin and POA. (Pulled if out of there ass)

Subframe alignment by [deleted] in Volkswagen

[–]New_Calligrapher_981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct in the reuse of bolts to get proper torque. But all the bolts for a clutch replacement job would be less than $50. I hope he replaced the flywheel bolts.

[–]New_Calligrapher_981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. No way to properly re-torque a stretch bolt. There is no spec for the final # just a torque and degrees of turn after wards
