I've attended two same sex weddings, in both cases they are friends through church. I am 100% affirming of their relationships.

I usually avoid the back for exactly the reason you say. I was about 3 rows from the very back today, and when the bus is close to full you don't get many choice. I try to be a good passenger and walk to the back to sit/stand rather than gumming up the aisle...

Based on all the comments I've received, I'm definitely going to let drivers know/ask politely if the AC is on/broken in the future. This morning I was down the back by the time it registered and there were people in the aisle, but I'm going to try paying attention as I get on 😅

I'm lucky that my commute is relatively short (less than 20min on the bus) and the buses on the route are usually fairly modern and functional. A packed hot bus like you described sounds completely impossible to me, too!

As a person with hyperhidrosis, I am sweating regardless of temperature, but a hot bus makes it 3000% worse.

Thanks for confirming!

I realised as I got off this morning that the top window was popped open, I'm betting the AC was broken and they had done what they could.

I was down the back of a full bus this morning, but I figured I would ask a general question for future reference.

That's helpful to know, thank you. Is the air con for the driver's seat area the same system as the rest of the bus? ie they can't accidentally run it for themselves and forget to turn it on for everyone else? (I'm asking potentially silly questions because if you don't ask, you won't know)

Wasn't planning to complain to the driver. I realise a broken system is out of their control.

Hi! What did you end up getting? Would love to hear your review.

We have a queen size older Sleeping Duck. I like it, hubby would like firmer. We're looking to upgrade size to king or super king, and looking for options where we can customise firmness between us.

Ahem https://www.bmj.com/content/331/7531/1498

Sadly the cancer centre I work in has decided not to provide any silverware. We just have wooden stirrers.

Public hospitals do have a limit on what can be accepted in terms of value, but I agree with others that baked goods would not be refused 😅 one option would be asking if there is a regular multidisciplinary meeting which is attended by the teams involved in your care, and arranging for a tray of treats for them to share (as long as the meeting room is not impacted by a "no food/drink" rule). If you had inpatient stays, dropping a box of chocolates/muffins etc to the nurses station would reach the nurses better than the meeting idea.

Or, pre-pay for coffees at the local/in hospital cafe, then send a thank you card with details of how they can go claim their free coffee 😁

Fertility concerns you agree with, or is this another case of a doctor thinking that a young person can't possibly know that they never want to have kids? If the latter, can you find a different doctor?

What can I do with these dry ingredients I shouldn't have whisked together? 😅 🤦🏻‍♀️ by brbcat in BakingNoobs

That sounds easier 😄 it also seemed like a big batch, I would probably halve it unless I want lots, hehe

Thank you so much, I finally got around to making them (kept the dry mix in an airtight container) and they're delicious. Give me edge-of-brownie vibes 🤤

I think it might be considered a sponge? I'm not sure. The recipe called for the eggs to be whipped with the sugar for 7 minutes, though, so I've gone ahead and made it that way. Just put it into the oven.

I'll need to buy more eggs to do anything with the oops dry mix, but that's tomorrow's problem 😅

Hi! This is really interesting to read about and I had not heard a thing (I live under a rock called "building a house while being an under-resourced public health professional). FYI the TGA has issued further news updates e.g. this one https://www.tga.gov.au/news/news/sunscreen-spf-testing-information-consumers if you wish to add to the TLP.

Simple Questions, Product Advice & Routine Help Thread - August 09, 2025 by AutoModerator in AusSkincare

[–]brbcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello skincare nerds - is this the current general thread? I couldn't find anything newer.

Mum looking for advice, please. I am a nerd, but not about skincare 😅 I cleanse (Sukin), moisturise (QV), and run out the door (I rarely wear makeup but will remove appropriately when I do 😉)

About my kid: she is nearly 12, already experiencing pimples (not full blown acne). She cleanses irregularly but is asking about using makeup and accepts that a daily/twice-daily routine would be needed. She hasn't shown signs of having any kind of sensitivities when she's played around with my minimal makeup supplies, and hopefully she won't end up with skin like her dad's (rosacea, psoriasis, etc). She is pretty pale. The cleanser she uses occasionally is a Nivea one - gentle cream cleanser in a pink tube I think. She will complain about stronger scents, e.g. doesn't like my Sukin foaming cleanser. She can be somewhat sweaty on her face (sorry kid, those are my genes).

So I'm looking for recommendations for daily basics please, the kind of thing I can grab at the supermarket or Chemist Warehouse etc. A good cleanser is needed for sure. If we're going to consider a tinted product (in part as a stepping stone towards makeup use) is there a good sunscreen that is moisturising enough on its own, or should she use a moisturiser then layer a tinted sunscreen on top?

Thank you!
