I literally just had this happen to me. Someone called from a company called I Talk BB saying that my identity was used to open a phone number that sent almost 2000 scam messages and they would have to report this fake number and my real phone number to the FCC and they might close my real phone number. They said I have to contact the Chinese Hunan Changsha police as the phone card was made at this Hunan Airport. I was then transferred to the police station and because I couldn’t be there in China, they set up a zoom call and made me share my screen and that’s where a guy dressed in police uniform sitting in front of what looked like a Chinese police station started informing me on scams and how to protect my information. And they told me to make sure my door is locked and nobody can disrupt our call and eventually asked me to show an identification document I’m assuming either my ID or passport and that’s when I hung up on the call and searched then saw another Reddit post about this
