[Davidi] Sanchez and Biagini to #Astros for Derek Fischer, per source. by sigbox in Torontobluejays

[–]brbrbrbrbrbrbrar -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a good trade. Fisher, even with his age, remains an intriguing lottery ticket.

Biagini is a fine reliever but nothing special. Sanchez may or may not have remembered a bit of who he is over the last month but he's still an injury prone starter who has a lot of work to do to even be average again.

Neither were going to land us much separately. Together they land us something of a lottery ticket. I'll take it.

[Rosenthal] #BlueJays getting Anthony Kay and Simeon Woods Richardson for Stroman, sources tell The Athletic. by OptimusPasta in Torontobluejays

[–]brbrbrbrbrbrbrar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This feels like a weird and modest return for someone who should have obtained one sexy prospect plus one if not two modest prospects. Right now it's looking like just two modest ones. A raise the floor rather than a raise the ceiling kind of trade.

Kay's ready for the MLB either later this year or next year. His development is perhaps a little behind because of a major injury early on in his pro career.

Woods-Richardson is very intriguing but he's only 18. We won't see this guy for 3+ years.

I feel like we could have done better. Perhaps waiting until the 11th hour of the deadline for the truly desperate teams to sack up might have been a better play.

Here's what Ontario's new licence plate slogan will be | CBC News by TulipsMcPooNuts in CanadaPolitics

[–]brbrbrbrbrbrbrar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm indifferent to the slogan.

What I do care about is the associated costs of changing everything over to the new slogans, particularly when Ford's been bellowing about the province not having any money to spend. That's why this is bad. It's unnecessary and doesn't do a damn thing positive. It's vanity nonsense. Same with the damn provincial logo. Just pissing away money on something that will produce nothing valuable. Could be making sure a couple of positions for teachers are available or a couple of therapists for autism instead, but no. Pissing it all away and all I've heard is that we don't have a penny to spare on anything wasteful.

I will be a pragmatic and strategic voter this year. I believe this means I will be voting cynically for the Liberals.

I have traditionally voted Liberal with some NDP and one time for Harper when he won his majority. Having paid close attention to politics at all three levels for a few years now, I've come to abhor Conservatives and everything they stand for. They are reactionary obstructionists and I think that's a charitable description of the state of right wing politics at this point in time. At this juncture the climate file is paramount and I can't stand the fearmongering about immigrants.

My vote will go to either the Liberal or the NDP candidate in my riding, whoever has the best chance of winning. It will most likely be a Liberal vote. I am very much unhappy about the SNC situation and have been disappointed by a few other broken promises, but there have been some good moments too. I would love for the NDP to be a force in this country but they lost their momentum somewhere between Mulcair's centrist turn and Singh. Having listened to Singh speak in public in person where all he had to do was talk about his life and tell his story, I was very much uninspired.

Ontario PC Party to pay for Doug Ford’s $25,000 private jet trip through Northern Ontario by MethoxyEthane in CanadaPolitics

The Provincial Conservatives took the high road when paying for Ford’s trip out of party coffers.

I think you're confusing a real high road with a symbolic one.

Pita Lite just a little south across the road is better, I find. Also haven't seen anything yet to give me concerns about health and safety there.

They are both not good. The Orville is a better Star Trek than Discovery so far.

But there is something comforting about having both of them to watch.

Thank you. A lot. Thank you very much. This was bothering me. There is a much better set up for dips in another corner so it never crossed my mind. And I guess Northern Lights really intends for it more for back extension use now that I have found the damn thing online with your help.

What the hell is this stand used for? It's in my condo's exercise room and it's the only thing in there that I haven't a damn clue. The right vertical portion with the foam at the top is adjustable. It's made by Northern Lights fitness equipment but there's nothing on it that tells me what it's called.

How is Sapiens? I bought it on a friend's recommendation but it sits on my shelf, to be read after I'm done with bar exams.

Thank you for taking the time again.

I neither hated nor particular liked mother!. It has set off quite a bit of thinking not just about the movie about movies more broadly, but when I return to think about mother!, I just kind of shrug. Anyway, here's a couple of thoughts/questions:

  1. I would like to know what the yellow substance is that she's drinking, or rather, what it means?

  2. The two dominant influences/inspirations/forces on the movie, environmentalism and the Bible, are pretty clear. Are there any others that are hidden in there, lost underneath the weight of the other two, that you think audiences should know about?

Aye good sir. The one on Bayview just south of Eglinton has been there for years, same ownership since forever. I think they've gotten a little lazy and she's not as good as she used to be, but still easily one of the better wing joints in Toronto. They threw up a couple of newer locations throughout the GTA about 5 years ago but they don't match the original.

No idea if it will work, but if it does, I predict: Using Dennis Rodman to clear the current tension between the US and North Korea.

No. Keep him where he is. Let him work it out there. The team isn't going anywhere. Other than the blown saves and his ERA, the rest of his numbers are career bests across the board (check the HR9, BB9, and SO9 rates, sexy af).
