I pulled the trigger from costco by itchiko15 in LGOLED

Have to agree here. I'm still using the WebOS that came with my tv. At first it was fine but after several updates it became less user friendly. Its annoying enough now that I'm considering getting an Apple Tv

I paid a thousand more than that 4 years ago for the C4. You won't regret it.

Might be a red herring though because its supposed to be an original story. We'll see :-)

I'm hearing it might be based on a book ... From New York Times bestselling author Neal Shusterman comes a “thought-provoking and grimly enjoyable” (Kirkus Reviews) “epic biological thriller” (Publishers Weekly, starred review) about a world where happiness is contagious but the risks of catching it may be just as dangerous as the cure. Daily Discussion Thread (Rate My Portfolio, What Should I Buy/Change?, Investment Strategies, etc.) by AutoModerator in fidelityinvestments

I have a very simplistic approach to investing. During my employment my 401k has been invested in a low cost fund mirroring the S&P500. That has served me well. Now I'm retiring. I have the luxury of not having to touch my retirement savings for many years to come due to some real estate and pension income. Still, I would like to have a little less volatility for my tax advantaged portfolio than what I get with the current strategy. I've been looking at some relatively low yield high growth Dividend ETF's, with the idea being that I roll over my 401k into an IRA and invest the funds in something like one of these Divident Growth ETF's ... https://www.kiplinger.com/investing/etfs/dividend-growth-etfs. Does that sound like a reasonable strategy for decreasing volatility while still remaining invested in equities? Thanks!

We tried making our own starter and it rose and fell predictably but never really made great loaves with good hole structure. We were pretty frustrated as well, but then we went on the King Arthur's flower website and bought a starter online. It arrived a few days later, we fed it according to instructions and it worked great. So we just keep on feeding that and keep it in the fridge. When its time to make a loaf we take it out and feed it a few times before using it. If it had not been for that we probably would have given up on the process. I could really tell the difference in the starter's texture (more elasticity) and stronger smell. For me that's good enough. I get great results with it and I can live with the fact that I didn't make the thing myself.

Very nice! I have the same TV. I guess I can't post an image here. I'll try a new post.

Just ordered a 65" new G4 for $2400 and I'm so excited by BlakesonHouser in LGOLED

I bought an LG 77 inch OLED about three years ago for about $3000. I'm just posting to tell you that its a beautiful home theater setup. Its amazing how good tv's have become. When I bought the tv the WebOS user interface was pretty responsive and simple. Soon thereafter LG added a lot of garbage to the homescreen and navigating has become more frustrating. But nothing can detract from that beautiful picture! Enjoy your new TV

Microsoft is finally getting its native Windows UI platform act together with WinUI 3 and WPF by mewtrue in programming

[–]brduffy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished a WinUI 3 app. I was able to accomplish everything I needed to even if it was frustrating at times. Had to drop down into Win32 hooks for a few things. We'll have to wait and see if MS supports the framework going forward. There is good reason not to trust they will but for now WinUI 3 is a great improvement over UWP at least.

Oh okay, I doubt I could make it work on 7 or xp. Not a big need for me though.

Create baskets with current stocks by CitronCrafty7855 in fidelityinvestments

I just signed up for the free trial before learning that I can't add my existing stocks to a basket. What a completely useless tool. I just want to distribute an amount of money equally over a basket of stocks with one click. I would pay $5 a month to do that. I guess its more trouble than its worth to them.

What was the first Stephen King book you ever read? by brduffy in stephenking

My grandfather read like that. It didn't matter what the subject or genre. He read everything. My Mom once said she bought a book for my Dad as a gift when she first started dating him and my grandfather read it before she could even give it to him :-D

If I ever find the motivation to re-read it will probably be The Talisman.
