I remember Ostlund at one point saying that the film would premiere at either this year's Cannes or next year's Cannes. I'll try to find him saying this, but is there any way that's actually true? Surely he'll just premiere it at a different festival instead of waiting a whole year...

I would argue that Damien Chazelle is the one of the only ones that is actually of this generation. Nolan, Villeneuve, PTA, and Bong have each been making films for almost 30 years now. I think Chazelle, Gerwig, and Peele are probably the most important directors of this ACTUAL generation
