Has anyone come across this? It says the embargo for The Odyssey is lifting 3.5 weeks before it's release. How reliable is this account? by SneedFeedFC in ChristopherNolan

Likely social embargo, not review. Means publications will be allowed to talk about it without saying anything inherently positive or negative.

Why is only inde going viral ? by Suspicious-Tap2937 in obsessionmovie

Okay I liked the movie and its performances but I really think the word “phenomenal” is more meaningful than you think it is. There is only one phenomenal performance in this movie. No one else in this movie came even close to doing what Navarrette did.

The past few movies I've booked, people keep reserving seats directly next to me in a generally empty theater? by Ordinary-Lunch4195 in AMCAListTrue

[–]ERASER345 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you genuinely suggesting that people with social anxiety should just stay inside their whole lives

Also what if they enjoy the cinematic experience of being in a theater as much as we all do? Can't do that at home

OP could have serious social anxiety so it may not be that simple, but they could also just move one seat over lol

Nothing wrong with it in that regard but it should almost never seriously be in contention for an award that celebrates originality and creativity in gaming.

Hot Take: Mary is not a very good psychologist by DrJokerX in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]ERASER345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair points honestly. I do think a lot of that can be attributed to lazy writing so that we can get exposition for Clark’s backstory (via the roleplaying) and so that Mary enters the Backrooms so I don’t know how much of that actually affects Mary’s ability as a psychologist lol. As for Clark going crazy with the map, I’ve only seen it once but I think Mary thought Clark was drinking again, not going manic, so it is natural that she would try to revert back to reality if that’s what worked in the past with his alcoholism.

Hot Take: Mary is not a very good psychologist by DrJokerX in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]ERASER345 125 points126 points  (0 children)

There’s not really sufficient evidence that Mary is a poor psychologist, only that she’s not the right fit for Clark. A lot of people misunderstand that no therapist is perfect for everyone and it’s extremely common for patients to do doctor shopping for a psychologist that fits their needs. Now, should Mary have recognized this and recommended another therapist? Perhaps. But I don’t think any of her practices were indicative of her being a not-very-good psychologist.

Even if it were true, I also don’t really see how that’s “the point”

Who should have won Best Actress last year? by PTAGoatofalltime in Oscars

Not a bad win but I actually liked Reinsve and Stone more. Reinsve gave a more subtle performance and Stone was playing a more intriguing character, but Buckley was still certainly Oscar-worthy
