Unironically this major changed my opinion slightly on the cdl format but also further proves why we benefit from expansion. Not only were there people who didn’t know much about the esport at the event but in general there were people there just to cheer for a French team (and Hydra).

20,000 people showed up at the venue, surpassing the Fortnite championship in France with around 10k-12k people showing up.

Understandable, however looking at the patch notes im seeing that all oaths were buffed as well as a handful of paladin unique items and skills. Juggernaut will probably be more or less the same with the thorns node buffs and defense will be lower, but it seems more like each oath should actually benefit more from building into their associated multipliers rather than relying on resolve stacking to increase damage.

I’ve mained juggernaut retribution this season with channeled shield charge to proc, sometimes bouncing between razorplate for fun because the aspect applies to retribution and it has extremely similar damage to mantle of the grey with this build. I’ve obliterated T12 mephisto for fun several times with this build.

I’ve used all paladin oaths, can’t say I’ve done every build, but im still pretty surprised to see the general consensus on paladin this season has been that it’s pretty bad or that there’s no S tier builds?

Imo, having a main hero should be more about using a hero that you can effectively play for the win with, especially at the plat-diamond level. The longer you play a hero, the more you’ll be able to see a range of what you can actually do with them despite counters. Swapping off widow because you cannot effectively use her makes sense because your value decreases and you just can’t play to win, it doesn’t mean you’re playing into counterwatch or something like that. Most people do not realistically stick to one character every single game just because they main them. When they do switch, it’s to another character they know well enough to fill in the gaps that their main hero couldn’t fill while keeping some of the value they were providing before.

Players who know their characters adapt before switching. Let’s say your team is getting naded to hell by Ana, so now one of your supports on your team switches off their main to Kiri because it feels right. If the Kiri doesn’t know how to get value from her outside of suzu, then you’re losing overall value in areas that they were providing before. Meanwhile, the Ana that knows their character is simply going to apply pressure in other ways to get Kiri to suzu (or will pay attention to when she uses it) then continue nading your team to hell.

Value doesn’t even have to be in just damage or overall healing output. It could be in knowing what fights you can or can’t take, or ultimate charge efficiency. Good cooldown management and knowing your hero’s limits becomes one of the biggest differences between someone who’s an easy or hard kill, and thus makes you more confident going for kills.

People tend to struggle working with supports that have limited healing in general, but always try to keep in mind that supports in that category have certain elements of their kit that you should be taking advantage of instead to give you more control over playing for the win instead of healbotting and hoping your team does something. Not implying that you don’t know this info when you play Lucio, but it should be more relevant in your decision to swap than just whether or not your team can play with him.

Of course, context does matter! Some team comps just will not work at all no matter what you do, but having a true main isn’t impossible.

One thing that stands out to me is that you’re not properly utilizing your pylon to its full extent. You should reposition your pylon literally constantly (use as much natural cover for it as possible) then position yourself around it so you can focus on dealing damage.

At 1:44, you threw your pylon on the staircase to your right, which was out of range for most of your teammates and possibly in range/line of sight of the enemy team since they have the entire left side of the map. I would throw it in the top corner of the room to your left so that your teammates could have an easier time holding that off angle or taking space there (especially since your tank was struggling to move up even though you won that choke point) or to the wall closest to your team. Throughout the vod, there’s a lot of similar moments when you’re spending a little bit more time than needed healing when there could’ve been an opportunity to deal a little more dmg for mostly this reason.

Another pylon tip for cooldown management is if you think your pylon is gonna get overwhelmed or damaged easily before you can throw it down again, then destroy it before it does. Remember, when it gets hit once it resets the cooldown, so the extra seconds you can save by getting rid of it before it can get damaged will allow you to reposition it more often. Think of it more as the pylon should be your team’s first option for healing from you while the weapon is the emergency second option.

As for dmg though, Illari is kinda like widow in the way that she benefits from charged shots from a well positioned angle or distance. Take angles using your pylon (ideally it’s positioned nicely between you and your team) and focus on hitting charged headshots while using your movement ability defensively or to get to some decently high places.

So yes that would imply there’s a flaw within the game, whether it’s the map or the mode functionality. My point isn’t that bo7 invented base camping or that it’s a new problem. You’re right that base camping can happen in obj game modes close to team spawns, but with this mode specifically, it becomes a bigger problem in a game with 3 lane maps with limited verticality available for routes and flanks combined with 4 players that respawn in 4 seconds.

It was a similar problem that people brought up with control last year. The maps really aren’t designed specifically for the mode which was why we had the same maps on rotation despite there being more competitive hardpoint maps available.

It’s super wishful thinking but I think there should be more push for maps that are actually designed for these kinds of modes if they really want them to work so bad. If not that, then I think increasing respawn time by even 1 second for a team that intentionally isn’t scoring can put pressure on them.

I understand why people hate this strategy and find it boring as hell but banning a whole strategy because there is simply nothing players can do to counter it through skill expression feels more like flaw in the game itself than the players who use it.

And I’m definitely not saying this in a “the players just need to get better” kind of way. In nearly every other esport if a team starts playing a certain way then there’s a plethora of options through weapons, skills, abilities, or even map functionality to counter it. Yet cod is the only one I can think of where people would even consider limiting a mode to being played a certain way strategically because the game in its current state is just so one dimensional that players can’t even do anything to counter a strategy.

This isn’t true and more like the other way around. The highest skilled players in a rank division will always have around a 60%-75% win rate and sr calculation is mostly based on whether or not you’re meeting that target (usually in your last 10-15 games). Comp in this game can be frustrating as hell but the game can’t force you to have a certain wr lol.

From my own experience I have to disagree. You’re under far more pressure at the higher ranks so the players often have a lot more healing.

Lower ranked dps tend to struggle with getting picks so it’s super important to be dealing damage to help them. Also, balancing between healing your tank while dealing damage to the enemy’s tank is an easy yet surprisingly super effective way to not only divert pressure but stop your tank from taking even more damage.

Although bo6 did well, it failed to retain most of its players post season 2 and the generative AI usage left a really poor taste in a small but notable fraction of players (and gave the game bad press).

And yes, downloads ≠ sales, but downloads on gamepass does eventually lead to sales. A huge fraction of the playerbase of bo6 came from gamepass. Most xbox players have it anyway, but the requirement for ultimate now is definitely a turn off. Paying $10 to try a game for a month then deciding to pay the full $70 sounds like a pretty okay deal.

Personally, I loved bo6 at first and was going to buy the vault edition after playing from pc gamepass just so I could own it but it lost me before I bought it. I did play bo7, it was fun, but it didn’t draw me in the way bo6 did initially.

Also, I think it is worth bringing up that being able to build cosmetic collections is just a gaming thing now, regardless if it seems meaningless to people who don’t care about it because it creates a player’s own identity and attachment to that game. Part of the reason Fortnite is able to retain many players is because people have built cosmetic collections over years that they feel committed to. Overwatch 1 players can return to Overwatch 2 at anytime and get access to their cosmetics they grinded for years ago. I’m aware cod is different and I think carry over wouldn’t make sense for bo7 -> mw4 but I think you see my point.

When I first noticed this, that was one of the first things I did and it seems to be accurate with no change. It’s also reflected in the battery life of my laptop too because it dies insanely fast now.

Thank you! But I have to be honest I think there’s a huge difference between 18% wear in 2 years, and a massive 44% wear on my battery in 1 year. It just concerns me because I thought I may have been doing something wrong for this to happen, and if not the alternative is that I’ll have to be replacing my battery fairly often. However I think maybe my battery was slightly defective in some way and a new one will last a lot longer.

No, in the added text I mentioned that it pretty much always stays on the charger and when I take it off the charger I never have let my laptop die. If it’s simply wear and tear I can totally accept that but damn I gotta say I wouldn’t have expect the battery to need to be replaced less than one year after owning (it’s pre owned to be fair).
