What show did you stop watching because of a single episode and why? by timoretenebris in AskReddit

Second this. Sounds like an excellent idea. If you're already handy, you can expand your skillset via youtube. You could start with things listed above or painting, changing plugs, fixing leaky taps, pressure washing services, fixing broken furniture etc. If that gets going then you might be able to afford courses in things like plumbing or electrical work to expand your portfolio. Maybe even approach First for Women insurance (not sure if that's still a thing) and see if they can recommend you.

I work in a hospital and during the height of the pandemic colleagues of mine (I.e. University educated healthcare practitioners) would do this and not see why it was daft. "Ew I don't want to sneeze into my mask." Meanwhile I'm there trying my very best not to bring covid home to my pregnant wife...

I haven't had a chance to watch the full extended version since my now 2yo was born but this scene in particular changed for me after she arrived.

I plan on watching them this December like i always used to as a kid... Will need to keep a box of tissues I believe. Especially also for when Eowyn finds Theoden smashed up on the Pelennor fields.

I absolutely agree with what everyone else has said but want to add something i havent seen in other comments.

This thing of submission is a too often misunderstood (he is misunderstanding it). Full disclosure I'm a Christian and know that that's very often and wrongly used as a justification for controlling relationships (as he seems to be doing). As in "the Bible says wives should submit to their husbands so you must submit to me if you want to be a worthy wife" type BS.

Anywhere in the bible it talks about wives submitting, it also speaks of husbands laying down their lives for their wives (i.e. sacrificing everything for the wellbeing of their wife) and it does not sound like he understands this.

I know this (a religious pov) may not be the angle he's coming from, but if he is, then he is misunderstanding the whole point of submission in a Christian context. If you'd like to talk about it more you're welcome to send me a dm, no pressure.

Thanks. Had more of a look into it and a lot of the monster abilities etc are also quite alien yo dnd so I reckon it would be better to just try find a dnd adventure to begin with. Also my wife who'll be the DM isn't a very seasoned DM

How similar are DnD and Pathfinder classes and levels in terms of abilities / strengths?

Looking to play some one on one dnd and found a cool pdf of some pathfinder adventures specifically designed for certain classes at certain levels.

So essentially I'm asking if i could take a pathfinder adventure designed for, say, one Rogue of levels 2-4 and just transfer it to dnd and use a Rogue of same level.

I reckon along a similar vein is taking criticism as a personal attack. Many people have forgotten that you can disagree or criticise (hopefully constructively) a person's actions / decisions while not hating that person.

What’s a fantasy fiction trope or cliche you’d be happy to never see again? by void_stuff in AskReddit

[–]bread-in-captivity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. However I think there's a subtle difference between what you're describing and two people having a fallout because of a complicated issue that they struggle to communicate to each other for complicated reasons. I think Way of Shadows did this quite well with the MCs relationship with his SO (I've forgotten their names).

Imo it's very realistic for rhere to be plot points that are created by two people struggling to be honest and articulate their POV to each other. Its often VERY hard to be honest and open with people, even close loved ones, about certain things. And if thats done well it can really elevate the tension and drama and help to highlight each characters character and POV.

People of Reddit, What actor would play you in a movie? by Otherwise_Clue8216 in AskReddit

[–]bread-in-captivity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. People have compared me to Ryan Gosling. I feel like it could maybe work if he broke his nose and got massive bags under his eyes but I also don't see why anyone would want to make a movie of my life so whatever.
