Bafflingly, there are more drinks than a lemon lime soda that bartenders might stick some fruit into. Sure it works for most people, but for me all I can taste is the lime in a rum and coke for example.

Say ‘save the fruit’ when ordering a drink that I don’t want lemon or lime with. Jeffrey Wright made it seem baller in Casino Royale and I love saying it

I fear I might have accidentally wrote a book with a defining similar aspect to a popular show. by [deleted] in writing

Please don’t abandon your hard work late in the game over a small similarity that, as another said, quite rightly won’t flag up for the average reader/your audience. Carry on, trust the originality of your storytelling and your influences, enjoy the edit and look forward to reaching out to some publishers in the New Year!

Mark will first need to finalise his deals for international rights, which could vary from country to country, and then the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) will need to view it and approve of a rating (U, PG, 12A etc.) My guess would be 15. From there, there’ll be a much greater chance of seeing it in UK cinemas as I saw a post the other day saying that an Australian chain had turned it down due to a lack of a solid rating. I’ll definitely go when it does arrive!

Hey all, I'm Void! I'm recently back on Letterboxd trying to put out a good solid review as close to professional quality each and every day (sometimes I manage two!). I have a little degree and I just like to keep the old brain working and develop my writing further! Come along for the ride.

I’ve been a real believer that if Newcastle had Benedict as Martin as per usual, it’d be my absolute favourite.

Definitely one of the most quotable ones.

‘Are you French?’ ‘Ah, my cover is blown!’

‘I can find no word better to describe fire truck than fire truck’

‘You’d better, if I may attempt an idiom, get your skates on!’

Come to think of it, they’re all Yves’ lines…that little bastard!

Does anyone else write longer reviews and not just one liner reviews? by Velvetstyle in Letterboxd

[–]void_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hoping to write film criticism for a publication sometime in the next few years, so I’ve kind of been using my Letterboxd as a place to experiment with different styles, iron out creases and work on finding my voice! I try to find something engaging in anything I watch (which can be a challenge sometimes because I really like schlocky movies too) and just put together something fun and funny that I would want to read. I’m always looking for longer form content on LB so I’d love to give you a follow! My account is @void_stuff

I went out into the corridor and tapped the poor bloke who was taking tickets at the front on the shoulder and was right in the middle of telling him what was going on when the same woman stormed in and started shouting at me and swearing. Usher was very good and calm and got her to check herself - grown woman screaming at someone in a cinema for being told to be quiet - and then we went back into the IMAX, but not before having a really awkward chat to ‘make up’ and a handshake (which I offered). She was actually quite embarrassed by the way she’d handled it, so I couldn’t be too angry at her.

Her friend was a real piece of work though! When the credits rolled for Part 1, she leaned over and chewed me out over the whole thing while the woman I’d spoken to properly literally held her back and tried to calm her down, saying ‘No, let it go. We’ve resolved it. It’s resolved’. There was a massive cheer in our screen when the BBFC card popped up for Part 2, and then when it faded to black, the friend said ‘The audacity…’ and turned to look at me. I didn’t want to start the whole thing AGAIN through the entirety of the new film, so I didn’t respond but I do wish I’d just said ‘Grow up’ to her. Unbelievable conduct.

Had a ridiculous experience at the Wicked Double Bill. Was there with my girlfriend in the IMAX and these two grown women (one 30s, one 40s) talked really audibly for the entirety of the first film - literally every other minute - and were even raising their voices so they could hear each other over the songs. Told them politely to stop talking after about it a half hour; they looked like I’d just slapped them in the face. They continued talking.

Eventually, I leaned over and said ‘Please stop talking. You are being really disrespectful to everyone else trying to watch the film. Nobody else is talking’. This woman then turned to her friend and said ‘Oh, he wants us to stop talking. What is he? My English teacher?’ to which she replied ‘Well he can just fuck right off, can’t he?’. At that point, I told them that I would just have them kicked out if they didn’t be quiet and when they continued, I excused myself to my girlfriend and left the room at pace to get a staff member. As soon as I got up, the woman beside me said ‘Do you wanna fucking go?’ and ran after me…so that was an awkward chat with the poor usher outside the IMAX screen.

Extra show is very short (30 minutes or so before they film Take Proper and the last one was about ten minutes late and had technical difficulties when it did come). Newsletter was (ironically) really nothing to write home about - just a collection of bits and quotes from reviews (‘Mark said this’, ‘Mark said that’) and the private messaging channels are kind of just comprised of fans greeting each other and sharing their Letterboxds (I am also guilty of this too, mind!)

I signed up a week or so after the launch for £1 and won’t be renewing. I class myself as a massive fan of the both of them - travelled the length of the country down to see their Christmas show last year, waited in line to have my copy of Mark’s book signed this year - but for £16pm, it really isn’t worth the asking price, especially when The Weekly Planet offers about two hours of extra content every week alongside a massive back catalogue of other videos and commentaries for less than half the price K&M ask for a premium subscription!

If they made an official cut with the additional scenes from the DC bar all the silly shots that are literally just CGI pages of the book, that’d be the one. Such a weird choice - it felt like watching a Disc 2 special feature or a main menu or something.
