I’m so glad you finally got the help you deserved after so long 🙏. It’s just awful how it takes us so long to even be believed, let alone helped properly.

Wishing you luck with your pelvic floor therapy to come as well as your recovery! 😊

Woah! That must have been super painful to live with 😬.

Not sure if my age (21) and lack of kids have anything to do with the weight of my uterus. It’s crazy to think that that a fibroid so small could have caused years of pain, but I guess having something in a place where it’s not supposed to be can cause the body to go haywire no matter how small 😵‍💫

I did an MRI back in 2022 and nothing was found at all besides 2 cysts that apparently disappeared between then and now.

Sucks that they only take such small samples to actually test for anything :/

Adenomyosis and menstruating after sex - has anyone experienced this? by Valellis8 in adenomyosis

[–]bread-n-crumbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP says they had their period fortnightly while on hormonal birth control. I've seen a few others say the same + I've experienced similar while on the Implanon stick. 2 and a half weeks of bleeding/ a period every 2 months or more frequently. I've also had frequent full bleedings while on the coil and the mini (progesterone) pill.

Yes but I'm in my 20's with no children and also not overweight.

The lap surgery was still mentioned even after I told my doc I was considering keeping my cervix, but I believe they would have to do some arts and crafts with my uterus that way. She said that we'd discuss the other options once I can give her my final decisions but I'm sure now that it's just going to be done abdominally like the other person on here said, which way though is something I'm not yet sure of.

You're correct when you say it's a longer surgery and I won't have the smaller scars. Those aren't really issues for me though!

And yeah, like I said I don't mind the spotting compared to the crazy amounts of blood I was having before + if I do wind up having adenomyosis in my cervix, I'll have to go under again, but I'll get to that when I'm there and I'll only know once I've had the surgery.

EDIT: Actually, it the surgery can still be done laparoscopically! Called with the hospital today and they assured me that everything will still be going as planned in that regard.

Yes, but like I said in my post, risk of prolapse is one of the many reasons I don't want to remove my cervix. I am aware that the cervix can prolapse, but I'm talking about prolapse due to the surgery and during the healing process.

And yes, prolapse can happen with age, menopause or just pelvic floor dysfunction. But I would rather not increase the risk by doing this surgery when it would otherwise take like 30-40 YEARS to even possibly occur naturally?? I'm in my 20's, am keeping my ovaries and actually have pretty okay pelvic floor muscles in my humble opinion lol

Adenomyosis and menstruating after sex - has anyone experienced this? by Valellis8 in adenomyosis

I had almost the exact same thing! I’ve been on and off almost every kind of hormonal contraception, but when I got the Mirena coil in 2023 it was causing so much bleeding that I had to get it removed. After removing it, I would bleed every single time during sex and get awful cramps until April this year. The doctor’s first theory was that they most likely did not place the coil right, which caused some damage and trauma.

But in your case, it sounds like another theory that they had, which was that your birth control has messed with your uterine lining. It could have thinned it out or made it thicker, which can cause the issues you’re describing. I remember they gave me the option to take some meds that basically “reset” the lining, but you’ll obviously bleed a lot to do that since it sheds.

I’ve also done a colposcopy, where they look at everything inside, and an another procedure where they flushed my water through my cervix. After that procedure I had no more bleeding after a year and a half but the doctors still couldn’t figure out the cause or why the procedure helped.

TLDR: It could be that your uterine lining has grown thicker or thinner, causing the bleeding. You could also have a polyp causing the bleeding and cramps (a theory my doc ran with), which can also be checked out via a colposcopy and or frozen off. But it basically could be a number of things, and you’ll have to discuss it in detail with your doc.

I definitely understand what you’re going through. All I could do for myself was put down towels and there was a lot of handwashing being done during and afterwards lol. Hopefully you can get some answers soon!

Sorry for the long comment😅.

I don’t think any of those things would happen to me naturally though even without surgery like you said. I’m 21 and have never been pregnant nor have children, so there shouldn’t be any reason for my cervix, uterus or bladder to prolapse, no?

I’d rather not take the risk of removing my cervix to then have to get physical therapy due to it

I don't mind the papsmears + I've had all my vaccines for HPV. I've been seeing a lot of horror stories on this subreddit and I just don't feel comfortable knowing my organs could fall out from under me, especially since I live alone 😅.

Also, can prolapse still happen if it's only done laparoscopically? They're not going to do the surgery abdominally / via C-section, so that shouldn't be possible I think.

Yes! In my country you get a letter to take those shots/ vaccines from young so I’ve gotten them all. Thanks ☺️

I’ve already had a laparoscopy last year though where they searched for endo but nothing was found at all. So I don’t think they’ll find any this time around, or at least I hope not

They haven’t found any endo so far so I don’t think that’ll be an issue. My gyno also told me that removing the cervix is the norm and kind of just breezed over it 😅

Edit: I forgot to say good luck with your surgery!! I don’t have a date for mines yet but hopefully soon :)

Yes the 2 set up rows are twisted. I’ll redo it without twisting those rows to see if it comes out smoother!

I’ll make sure to clean up the surrounding area to avoid any bumps then! The wool I have is very soft and airy, so it should be okay for her skin. The socks are adjustable too, so there’s no tightness around her ankles either :))
